  • for the translation. It must have been neatly done, because the interview seems pretty nice, even if it's not of the kind that transmitted verbatim every word Morrissey said. I saw a few flaws, but what the heck, I'm not the Grammar Patrol, and I am not purely English or American either.

The burping both shocked me and amused me, but how can we expect Morrissey to keep air trapped in his stomach? Not very healthy :)

  • For those of you who have not seen Walk On Water, it should be explained that in the scene Morrissey is referring to, Ashkenazi (an undercover agent) goes to the Dead Sea with the grandson of the Nazi war criminal he's secretly tracking: the grandson thinks Ashkenazi is a tourist guide and Ashkenazi has yet to work out that the grandson is gay.

The dead sea scene is quite homo-erotic. They end up having a shower together on the beach (nobody else is about) and the gay grandson asks Ashkenazi about his penis being circumcised.

Anyway, this is the "scene" Morrissey wants to recreate - having a naked shower with Ashkenazi and asking him about his penis.

Troll me if you wil but those who've seen the film will know I speak the truth (it's a bloody good film by the way).

  • Morrissey + Someone not from West in story shocker! Prepare to be carpet bombed here by right wing idiots very, very soon.

An interesting account by Mr Ashkenazy I thought, although I confess to not knowing him as an actor. Moz seemed typically at-arms-length in the hotel, but the aftershow drinks seemed to show a very down to earth bloke. Have we ever seen a picture of Morrissey's sister by the way? Jackie isn't it?

Now come on you Republicans, let rip with your "bomb this" and "fuck them" nonsense. How you sing along to a Morrissey record is anyone's guess. He'd spit on you.

    Anyone going to Spain?

  • Those words couldn't possibly be verbatim. How many times has MOZ indicated that he does not perform????

  • He's already promoting "Years of Refusal", it seems.

  • After reading this I wonder if Morrissey will be burping any of his songs on the new album?
I had a friend once who could hold a burp for over 30 seconds...do you think Morrissey was doing something similar that night?
It's rude if u ask me.
You'd think Chrisse Hynde would at least call him out on it...seriously

  • The story makes it sound like Morrissey's a little too used to getting his own way, which I suppose should not be a surprise. I wonder to what extent this is down to translation. For instance, the dialogue and so on is a re-translation of already translated text. At the end, "Don't speak" on the card sounds downright arrogant. A very small difference in choice of words, such as, "Don't say anything", which presumably it could have been, would sound very different.

  • "i sing what i decide to sing before the concert...I do what I want. I decide which songs I'll sing, what the setlist will be"

shouldn't that be: "we'll do whatever we've got rehearsed up, which in the case of hyde park means exactly the same show we did in january, plus 4 more we were hard-working enough to learn in 6 months, so as to have something special for an unrepeatable open-air festival-headlining spot in central london" ?
