I just left a moany office, setting off to meet some people for a little sunshine courtesy of the Buena Vista Social Club, and I was stopped short with a vision of the cover picture of the magazine on a poster outside a shop. Needless to say I purchased a copy but may have to defer reading gratification for the sake of sociability.

when and where is the next proper round of concerts? This is insanity.

New album out in 10 weeks and they can't sort out anything? Part of the reason why YATQ was so successful is that there was actually some buzz and promotion precedding it.

All we have now is a few fumbling festival shows that aren't even officially acknowledged on any site remotely connected to Moz.

I've given up on the summer but how about some organization for some shows in Aug and Sept.... persoanlly, I think they should replicate the YATQ idea of BIG shows in LA, NYC, Manchester... and also do London, Paris, etc. all within a month or so of each other to get some INTERNATIONAL BUZZ going.

Why is everything he's been doing lately seem to be getting gayer and gayer? This is an awful cover and I would be embarrassed reading it on public transportation.

I guess he posed to show he's not fat like everyone has been saying, but rather hairier than David Hasselhoff!

I think this is a great picture. There are very few men approaching their half century who would look as good as this with their top off. He's obviously been very careful with the alcohol consumption and he's been doing some sort of exercise. You only get that definition between the sides of your stomach and hip bones if you've worked out a bit. Didn't he once say he liked swimming? I wish he visited my local pool.
And, if this is a return to the provocative, image conscious Morrissey, any guesses as to what the album cover will be like?

First off, it's called lighting, and tailored jeans. Men's Fitness magazines learned the lighting trick long ago, as has anyone who has worked in photography.

Anyone who saw Morrissey walk offstage after taking off his shirt on the live DVD knows that it's mostly smoke and mirrors. In general he has the body of a drowning victim that washed up on shore a week ago.

Of course, he's not fat, just bloated.

I would hope to God that he is in better shape than most people his age. He has no excuse to be anything but.

Well, age is just an abstract concept... I'm just a teeny bit older than Morrissey (have loved him since the dawning of time) and I try very hard to look after myself,as he obviously does,so I am really loving this image of him looking all mature and still totally gorgeous.

If it's hard to get British magazines over here (in New England), one can imagine it being even harder to fetch Irish ones. I used to scan Tower Records for any (foreign) magazines that contained articles on him - but now they're closed. The Coop might carry them, or Newbury Comics. If anybody has a hint of how to grab one somewhere in this area... that's considering the probability that it is possible to trust that those are Morrissey's own words... if not, at least Morrissey's own body in those pics - well, that's easier to detect ;)

Morrissey's been flaunting it in public for nearly 1/4 century now - it's a fine tradition. I'm glad to see that he's not going to start playing nice just because fifty is around the corner. He's still a sexy beast, and he knows it.

Here in New York City good 'ol Gem Spa on the corner of St. Mark's and Second Ave. carries Hot Press - this issue is not yet available, but they assure me it will be in soon.
