Just wanted all of Larry's (Lon) friends to know that Lon passed away on Saturday, Jan 26th. I know he had a lot of friends here and so I wanted to let you know that he is in a better place now. He died of liver complications. He will be missed dearly by me, and all of the friends he had here on Solo. Thank you.

davidt: Sad news to report. Larry (Lon, user #121) was a longtime friend to the site who I have had some great memories traveling with. Thanks to Kali for passing on the news.

  • I'm very sorry to hear that. Lon (Larry) joined around the same as I did over ten years ago. He was always a positive person around here. One of his last posts was simply: "Why do you all complain so much?" Indeed.

    Rest in peace.

  • Makes me wish I'd met him as we had planned, when last I was in Ft. Worth. I remember us saying "next time..." and leaving it at that. Sad.

    He'll be missed.

He said he was going to take his rifle and Kill Morrissey.
    lol

    Larry.. Larry O....:)
Wow to take a last breath in this life.
    and just go?...Not live?
    Me oh my..
I know he wanted to help me get across the waters.. and all I can do now . Is add to my desire..
I'll always think Of Lon Kindly.

My Deepest regards to the family..
For it is hard to lose the ones we love.
    I wish them Insight.

Here is a saying that Lon liked. I shared it in a time I was going through a hard time because of the death of my mother..

To Fear death, is no other than to think oneself wise when one is not, to think one knows what one does not know. No one knows. No one knows whether death may not be the greatest of blessings for a man, yet men fear it as if they knew that is the greatest of evils. And surely it is the most blameworthy ignorance to believe that one knows what one does not know.
