Update: 01/16 18:33 GMT:
Merck Mercuriadis sends in clarification that the CD WOW tracklist is incorrect and that the tracks are actually remastered, not remixed: "...All of the mixes used are the original mixes. All tracks have however been remastered so the sound is the truest (and loudest!) available to date." --- Likely incorrect info as Merck Mercuradias stated that "Alma Matters" does not appear on any of the Greatest Hits editions. USE YOUR LOAF sends the link: MORRISSEY - Greatest Hits - CD Wow! Tracklisting: First Of The Gang To Die (Remix 2007) In The Future When All's Well (Remixed 2007) I Just Want To See The Boy Happy (Remixed 2007) Irish Blood, English Heart (Remixed 2007) You Have Killed Me (Remixed 2007) That's How People Grow Up Everyday Is Like Sunday Redondo Beach (Remixed 2007) Suedehead (Remixed 2007) The Youngest Was The Most Loved (Remixed 2007) The Last Of The Famous International Playboys (Remixed 2007) The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get (Remixed 2007) All You Need Is Me Let Me Kiss You (Remixed 2007) I Have Forgiven Jesus (Remixed 2007) Alma Matters (Remixed 2007)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
A remix is an alternative version of a song, different from the original version. A remixer uses audio mixing to compose an alternate master recording of a song, adding or subtracting elements, or simply changing the equalization, dynamics, pitch, tempo, playing time, or almost any other aspect of the various musical components. Some remixes involve substantial changes to the arrangement of a recorded work, but many are subtle, such as creating a "vocal up" version of an album cut that emphasizes the lead singer's voice.

First of all, it lists "Redondo Beach" as having been remixed. Considering this was a live recording, how on earth could you (let alone WHY would you) remix a live track?

They've done a great job lately with the Doors, Joy Division, The Stooges, Leonard Cohen, The Cure and many other great (and not so great)albums & artists. Occasionally people get it wrong in the mix, but it's worth it overall. If you don't like it, they can't take your originals away!
I'm still awaiting proper New York Dolls album releases. When they remaster those, listen to the old and new and hear the difference. That should be an incredible indicator of what remastering can do. For now compare the Stooges first CD's with the newer versions. BIG BIG difference.
