  • Well, I won't be buying any of these singles.
Not interested in live tracks. I was hoping for a new b-side.

I can't wait for the album!!!

  • Is this the 2nd time in recent releases that he's released a cover with a photo that is several years old? Looks good though!

  • There is something "off" in that photo. It just doesn't seem to look right. I really can't explain it but for some reason it just seems odd. I don't know if it's the odd angle or the thickness of the sideburns or something completely different. I wonder if there's been a bit of alterations done to it in some way.

  • Worst b-sides ever.

That's a Jake shot, look at the 1oz pendant. It's also awesome that a young Morrissey is on "That's How People Grow Up." But I only cut him slack in this case, he's not allowed to get younger in other contexts.

  • I think someone pointed this out in the forums awhile back...but according to the setlist on Solo for the show in Omaha, Nebraska on May 11th, 2007, Morrissey did not actually sing "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys." Someone has made a mistake somewhere??

  • this could well be the first *ever* Morrissey thing I don't buy. Because, really, I don't think I need new live b-sides, and I guess I kinda have to get the new best of it has has this new single and one other track, plus, possibly, a bonus disc.

Morrissey has traditionally been very generous with his b-sides and bonus material, so this is all a bit disappointing. Roll on new album proper.

  • First up - best cover in years. I loved it when his hair was worn right to left.

Second - stop slagging the B-sides. He's not done an album session, this is to promote a Best Of with two new tracks on it. Like he was going to record six new songs and then put two on the Best O... and blah blah blah wasting my time, etc. He's been touring of late - live tracks from it (and good ones) seem appropriate.

  • i'm sure it'll look much better in person. no one really looks better on the cover of an album or single than he does, IMO.

i'm possibly only telling myself this since I pre-ordered 2 copies of each format. one to keep sealed of course

  • Why does Morrissey have the absolute best and most loyal fans alongside the most aweful peevish fans in the world?
The cover photo looks great - who cares if it's older?
The b-sides are live tracks, which isn't as kick-ass as studio songs, but think about it... This is actually a grand gesture on Moz's part. With these b-sides he's making it so that you can only buy the best of and still get all of the new songs... you don't have to buy the single too, but if you want to buy the single and are a completeist, then you will be getting new stuff as well. Very cool.

  • Reading the comments on this thread it seems there's two main themes.
The ageing process and facial hair!

I can't imagine Morrissey will fudge the issue of ageing (dis)gracefully, or the political debate around ageism.

He is free to mourn the passing of youth and beauty, just like everybody else does....you, me, everyone who's ever lived. The transient Contingency Of Existence, etc.

If it is/does become an issue for him, he can always revert to Smiths-era cover stars.

He appears to be morphing into one on this single cover...hence the five o'clock shadow. Maybe. Perhaps.
