If it was a one-off date, you'd have thought that he might have a decent stab at selling out the main space - but on a tour with 40 dates, no chance surely.
The Hollywood Bowl date is less surprising because we all know about the legendary level of support for Morrissey down in the Los Angeles area.

But, I think that a LEGEND such as Morrissey has earned the right to play a huge room, if only for one night, in the US. Imagine 20,000 Morrissey fans strong! I saw Depeche Mode at Madison Square Garden, with a huge crowd and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Let Moz grace the big room once, and walk the same stage as Jagger, Bono, and the Ghallagers. THEN, play a couple of smaller venue shows in New York to make up the difference.

In '04 Morrissey did
5 sell out nights at the apollo (capacity 1,475)
2 nights at Radio City (capacity 6,013) at about 90 percent sold
1 sell out at Asbury Park Paramount Theater (capacity 1,600)
Now even if Morrissey didnt sell out Radio City both nights HE STILL SOLD just about 20,000 tickets in the new york/new jersey area on his last tour.
Most end stage concerts at Madison Square Garden are usually btw 16,000 OR 17,000 capacity since not every seat is sold in the building.
Is it possible for Morrissey to sell out the Garden?
YES
Is it likely that he will?
I have my doubts but im sure it wont be an embarresment! I think if Morrissey has a good opener or a special guest for the night this will boost ticket sales as well! We'll see but i'd love to see it happen!
