In the latest issue of GQ Magazine, with Robert DeNiro on the cover, there's an article with The Shins. The article includes a Q&A section where The Shins are asked to name their favorite albums of the year etc. One of the questions asked is to name their 5 top road albums - one of the answers given is "any Smiths album".

I think The Shins are a fabulous band -- one of the few truly great American bands of the 21st Century so far. Their first 2 albums are festooned with lovely, melodically intoxicating psychedelia so it will be interesting to see how the Post-Punk/Proto-Punk musings of The Smiths's music plays into The Shins new work. It's been like 3 years since we've heard from them so it's great to hear that their coming back.
