Sorry for jumping the gun a bit with a previous posting.
The distribution discussions took a twist, hence the delay in releasing the film.
The producers have taken the decision of launching the film globally on a date to be decided, probably in March 07 via Vital Distribution.
Discussions are also taking place to show a slightly shorter edit of the film through MTV at around the same time.
I'd like to make clear that this production is in no way critical of Morrissey or Marr, in fact I would say the opposite.
Mike and Andy are very proud of their achievements with The Smiths snd would not wish to see the legacy damaged or slandered in any way.
In fact the film is conciliatory in it's tone.
It's twenty years since release of 'The King is Dead' and 'Inside the Smiths' is very much a celebration of that fact. The film is respectful to the memory of the band and all of the band members.
Whilst the rythm section of The Smiths were an important part of the band Mike and Andy fully recognise the massive contributions made by messrs marr and morrissey to the band and the british and global music scenes.
I sincerely hope you enjoy the film, a celebration of one of the worlds most legendary bands. A lot of work went into ensuring that the film gives fans of the Smiths something for their money that they can enjoy and treasure as an interesting documentary and a genuine resource containing useful and interesting information.
