Brussels review in De Morgen by Bart Steenhaut (2 of 5 stars)

An anonymous person writes:
What a terrible review in the Dutch newspaper "De Morgen" [by Bart Steenhaut, 2 of 5 stars).

The former icon has fallen from his pedestal, played too many songs from his very moderate recent record, sterile play from Boz and co, and a very bad and cheerless ultimate song "I will see you in far off places"...

Where did this guy stand? Or was he the spider Moz was looking for? In this way, Moz will never please the press in Belgium!

Calling it a "moderate" release is being way too generous. What a horrible cd. Moz better get finished with promoting this dreck and get back in studio for something better (not hard to improve from that ROTT train wreck). He also should stay far away from anything to do with Visconti and dump the third rate, L.A. reject Tobias. Jesse was a Huge mistake. No more over hyped, pompus/bombastic uninspired crap from Moz. Then in the future, all will be well. For now, Moz has hit Bottom.

Why do we have to trawl through such negative crap? Good God! Why can't Moz get a proper fan site going? We're stuck between this one where Americans seem to moan 24/7, and when we don't have to listen to that it's crap reviews of gigs that probably weren't that bad (I've seen quite a few on this tour and haven't been disappointed once!)and True to You where sod all gets posted!!!Yes I know ROTT is over produced and bit boring in parts, yes I know that Jesse Tobias is dull as dishwater, but for God's sake! We don't have to dig up Moz's mistakes at every turn do we? He's put enough good stuff out (some of it even appears on ROTT!!!) to carry his fanbase surely? He'll do it again and again too...

This isn't the only forum I look at - But it's the most negative!

De Morgen is a really bad newspaper when it comes down to music reviews (and when i think about it, also when it comes down to al te rest, any Belgian will remember the Regina Louf episode...). They never, never give a good review to concerts, for some reason they seam to enjoy breaking down great artists. And of course, they always say it was better in the past. Dylan was better, Morrissey was better even the fucking pope was better in the past (what's next, Hitler was better in the past?). De Morgen is a socialist newspaper, full of intellectuals who piss on artists that sell more than 500 copies, it's really really sad. Me, as an unitellectual socialist, piss on them.
So don't take this review as a mirror for all the belgians, believe me, the other newspapers who said something about it were really enthousiastic. De Morgen is dutch for 'the morning', but believe me, they don't mean this moring, they're talking about some morning in 1985.
