There is a long-standing boycott in place, and other artists have joined it. It may seem ineffective and silly, but Morrissey is not making it up, nor is he the only artist to make a public statement.
I wonder if McKay's statement was greeted with such cynicism. More likely, everyone yawned - which is the difference between iconic greatness and principled youth.
Those poor marine mammals, they just can't get a break.
