TalkSPORT'S Alan Brazil calls Morrissey / The Smiths boring
posted by davidt on Wednesday June 28 2006, @11:00AM

Nick Spence writes:
Wednesday morning talkSPORT radio presenter Alan Brazil, the former football star, called Morrissey and The Smiths 'boring'. Fellow presenter Adrian Durham leaped to Morrissey's defense citing lyrics word for word from 'The Queen Is Dead' as examples of Morrissey's "genius". Brazil's response "Call The Samaritans". The conversation took up much of the World Cup breakfast show, with many anti-Morrissey comments read out over the air. Mike Parry, another presenter said he had never heard a Morrissey single, adding he had been told he sounded like a cat in a metal bucket. Adrian had the last word saying "Morrissey's awesome".

Basically sums Alan Brazil up.
Used to play for Man Utd in the '80's for about 3 weeks and was hated by all for being well, a fat scotch twat.

Is that posture of Alan Brazil related in anyway to the machoism implied in this type of sport, or is football unrelated to an antagonism for the lyricism and the delicate melancholia of our former Moz (who is still, I think, confused with the actual, tougher, yet, yes, still gentle Moz)? Strangely, Moz was also an athletic type, somebody nobody messed around with in highschool (so I heard), and he is apparently very fond of football. I just wonder if there are many English football fans, or hooligans, that suffer from "an impending" aversion to the "cat voice in a buckle". In other words, if this aversion is cultural.

Hate the fact the last name of this guy is the same of a country who was so welcoming of Moz, though :(

Turns up years later on Talksport, a radio programme for people who think The Sun is too intellectual. Talks bollocks for a living now.
