Long-running British soap Eastenders opened up the nation's eardrums to The Smiths last night (Monday), with How Soon Is Now playing on the radio in the 'caff' (cafe). Anyone who's seen the pictures of him & the lads on the set of Eastenders will know the street a bit anyway, certainly his love of it, but i thought someone somewhere might be slightly interested. Well, it made me happy anyway, Dot Cotton & The Smiths mingled together will have that affect on a person.

Hey y'all, this is a classic.
Sat down on Monday 15th, watching Eastenders on BBC1 with my mum, and there was a scene with Grant Mitchell and Jane, and well Grant was kinda teasing Jane because they're having an affair and Jane was having none of it and in the background 'How Soon Was Now' was playing on the cafe's jukebox!

A total classic and so ironic.

Grant (pitbull in jeans) has argument with someone elses wife about whether he should sleep with her or not. How Soon Is Now plays in the background on the cafe radio- "I am human and i need to be loved" seemed to be faded up, but that might just be my overactive imagination.

I think right, the next Morrissey or Smiths sighting will be in Corrie.
Because Craig and Rosie have just got over their '' Goth - Phase '' and they've taken to the '' Indie - Look '' now.
So, keep you're wits about you Britain.
I mean if Jack Johnson can get a shout, Morrissey must have a chance.

P.S: I find it funny how they chose a so called '' depressing '' song for the part of the show. And how they used The Smiths to express Grant Mitchell's depression.

There was a time when the Smiths were always played as very quiet background music in Eastenders. Must have been the early nineties - mostly tracks from "The World Won't Listen" if I remember correctly.

This is the typical "fan" who only owns The Best of vol. 1 (just because it has This Charming Man and How Soon is now?, after all, I was tired of begging the dj to play them cuz it was really ironic to listen to them in a club), The Singles (damn! should have waited for the very best of, plus it is remastered) and Suedehead- the best of Morrissey...just because of Suedehead (of course) after years thinking it was called 'I'm so Sorry' by The Smiths.....

You're right, How Soon Was Now?

so sit on the couch, never protest, never speak up, never research, never care about the world, never understand your mind, just watch telly and listen to moz's CRAP new album while the rest of us wonder how humanity ever quite got to this.
