Well, one stage invader got up, mid-show, and just about tackled Morrissey. Dragged kicking off stage right. Then, during There is a Light... one more tried to get up on stage - didn't make it (center-ish of the pit), and Morrissey was pissed - he was actually swearing, and he left the stage. What a rotten ending to a lovely evening. I'm sure he'll never play that venue again (thank goodness). Hope it doesn't sour him on NYC. Nancy Sinatra was in the audience, 5th row or so. Lots of gifts and letters and flowers did make it to the stage, which was nice, he seemed touched.

I thought it was a fantastic show. Morrissey's vocals were sublime & the energy from the band was incredible. Despite the unfortunate ending forced by the 2ton security guard ripping the poor woman's arm out of its socket, I thought the show was the best concert I've seen from Morrissey. I most appreciate his humor. And his sincere appreciation for how much we love him. The set list was a perfect balance of old & new. How great was the how soon is now opening. I LOVED the lighting & set. It was magical. I just wish I could join up w/ his friend Julia & follow him to some more shows. Thank you, Morrissey! Let's do it again in Harlem next time, though!

At one point he asked everyone if we liked the venue better than the Apollo and everyone screamed "no!" and then he asked if we had shackles around our ankles, and fire marshals sitting on our shoulders. Security was really, really horrible tonight. I thought they were going to give me an anal probe on the way in. At one point near the end Moz said "I see someone is bootlegging the show. You made a good choice, I hope you make a lot of money." (I think this was in response to the heavy handed security.) Also right before he walked off he said something about the security there having machine guns - clearly an exaggeration though I did hear someone at the end say that the security goons up front *did* have guns?

I've actually been quite disappointed at Mr.Morrissey's behavior during several shows on this tour. He seems to have this "I'm royalty" attitude - ie. ingnoring fans in the front row, tossing bitchy comments to the crowd and just generally acting like a cunty britany spears.

Maybe he's always been this way and I've only noticed because I've been front row for many of the shows this time. I've found his antics to be almost tiresome at times. Maybe this is the allure that I was never aware of...I was always drawn to the music itself.

Mr. Holier than thou needs to remember WHY he is still (almost) selling out venues...the fucking fans. His star fits and posturing are way outdated at this point...

Sometimes I guess it's better to let your idols exist as fantasy...often much better than the reality.

Anyone else see Moz get on the bus round the back after the show? He looked so cute bundled up in his porkpie hat and scarf.

Yep. Security were total pricks. No one could go anywhere. As Moz asked, "Are you all chained to your seats?" He knew they were being Nazis. The stage invader early on didn't help matters, namely the way he roughed up Moz, tackling him and pulling him to the ground and all.

I knew I had no chance from CC but I had a shot anyway and was quickly tackled and then escorted out. I put up a good fight against these two big fat guys though! At least the one who led me out let me go back for my jumper. Haha. Thanks mate.

Again, Morrissey aluded to this being it, saying, "Don't forget me". Something about that statement really struck me. Mainly the way it was delivered, with a definite hint of sadness.

Morrissey and the band were in top form tonight, no out of tune instruments this time, and a great mix of old and new songs. Julia was in the right pit, and Nancy somewhere near me around row GG.. though I couldn't see her. About half way through one invader managed to tackle Morrissey to the ground, a second would end There Is A Light early (again) and stop the show.

Some great comments from Moz. He asked whether the Apollo was a better venue to which the crowd cheered. He also tossed his shirt to a lucky fan and said "If it doesn't fit, toss it back and I'll send you one that does" haha. The John Stewart for President petition is still in effect.. with 61 signatures now! lol

I want to thank the people who sat around me, one who looked a dead ringer of a young Moz (who got yelled at by the Usher for standing on the seats ... though the row behind us was empty) and a guy and girl who danced in the aisle.. it made it that much more fun.

All in all a good show.. even if we were left a bit hollow inside by the abrupt ending.

I almost made it out to go to the N.Y.C. shows, but opted to go the Miami ones instead. After reading some of the complaints about the security and the seating, I am kinda glad I made that decision. Hopefully the Miami shows won't be so much like a police state.

Mozz, i know you read this, so next time is say a FEW MONTHS.. try for roseland... and require 40's attire for admission. Would be fun... its time he set up his gigs under his rules, even if he is fucking.

I saw the show--it was excellent. There is all this talk about what happened at the end of the show. People were actually making their way onstage during "Light"--someone started getting manhandled and he got pissed. Morrissey said, "Boo to security", and then walked off. I was in BB and there was a fight that broke out in the aisle because a guy and a girl were trying to break past security and get into 'the pit'.

What nobody seems to be mentioning is that he made a gesture towards the back of a big ass security guard during (I believe) "Crashing Bores".

The show was great, the seats were awesome.

It is a godawful shame that such an amazing night had to end so miserably. I'm the one that tried to get up at the very end on Boz' side. I guess a lot of you saw it- it was as bad as it looked.

Here's basically what happened. When he said that was it, that he was fed up with security, I HAD to get on stage. He hadn't taken my letter yet and say what you will about letters, sure he's seen thousands and sure they probably all say about the same thing but I could not walk out of there tonight knowing that (I hate to say it ) it could be my last time seeing him and I hadn't at least made an attempt to let him know how much I appreciate him. So I jump up on stage and feel the security guard tugging at my leg. I refused to get down, told him so and he got more and more violent. HE ACTUALLY STARTED YANKING ON MY SKIRT! The woman next to me (Elana I think your name was, I'm so so so sorry if I got it wrong, I'm infinitely thankful for your help) noticed and started pushing him away. At this point I'm actually on my back laying on the stage with the security fuck still yanking at me. Moz notices, takes my letter, and looks at me as if to say "I am so incredibly sorry" . He may have said thank you, I think he did, it's such a blur. Anyway, he took my letter and left stage.

By the time I was back on the ground, My shoes were dangling from my toes and my skirt had been yanked down a good five or six inches, the zipper in the back actually split open.

I am completely and utterly sickened by security tonight. They made me feel incredibly unsafe tonight.

And a note for that first guy that made it on stage and literally tackeled Moz: HUGE NEGATIVE POINT FOR YOU! Although I don't think security's actions tonight are at all in any way even vaguely acceptable, I like to think that maybe they would have been a bit more decent if they didn't have reason to believe that all of us trying to make it on stage were doing so with the intentions of jumping on Moz with such force that he actually falls to the ground. All of you who are stage invading for the sake of thrill seeking, do it at some other show. Please don't ruin it for the rest of us,

All of that said, tonight was amazing. Thank you to everyone I met over the past two nights who made it even better, specifically Catie and her boyfriend, Christa, Elana (god I feel like I maybe remembered your name incorrectly, I'm so sorry), Liz (how insane. two Vassar people next to each other), Craig with the gorgeous hair, the girl with Craig with the green bag whose name I didn't catch, and the two guys I was talking to before the show whose names I unfortunately don't remember (I'm awful with names).

All in all, despite that really unfortunate incident, Morrissey and the band were amazing.

The night was in my mind better than Saturday but I left feeling very pissed off. There was an early moment in which I got angry. If you are the complete and total tosser who jumped Moz and took him to the ground by using an agressive Rugby tackle then I sincerely hope that you were thrown out of the venue and have a miserable life! What is your problem? Moz almost fell with his head on the monitor which could have ended it for all of us. As he said when he recovered himself "that was not nice". You are an arsehole of the first degree and I wish you the worst!

As for the woman who tried to get on during the encore I hope you didn't get hurt. She only wanted to go up and greet him and was violently dragged off the stage by the security which was the last straw as far as Moz went, finishing There is a Light early again. It was not your fault and Moz thanked you for coming and trying. "A big boo for security" which people obliged with when the band finished.

It is not a case of them just doing their job, they were arseholes and ruined the night for me at the end. I travelled all the way from the UK for this and it has made an anti climax for me. I am going home Tuesday and can not wait until the UK/Europe gigs start again because we don't get this nonsense. Roll on Paris.

During Crashing Bores Moz animated his stomach while pointing at the huge fat bouncer at the front. This is not his doing and in fact his own security calmed the fat one down at the end when the woman was being dragged off.

That aside, for me tonight the highlight was Now my Heart is Full. It is the Moz song of the week for me at the moment.

I'm sure there were several lyric changes tonight including "Now I know how Oscar Wilde felt" in Bigmouth which was a first.

All in all another brilliant night but spoilt by security ghouls. It is a shame since I'm going back to the UK on Tuesday but I am looking forward to Paris next for me. Personally I would have preferred Asbury Park to have been the going home gig because the atmosphere was much better and my US visit would have finished more on a high even though There is a Light was cut short there too.

For you people who are contemplating jumping up and tackling the man please don't, you'll enjoy it better if he is in a good mood. Believe me you would understand if you had been to the Preston UK gig where he was obviously enjoying himself "Are you trying to make me happy; well it's a miracle it's worked!" Don't ruin it for everybody. By all means get up there but don't drag him down; it is not nice! Does it take that much to be civil and respectful?

I hope that the rest of the US dates go well and that people will learn, security and invaders, that it doesn't cost to treat people with respect and dignity!

Hearing the Never Played Symphonies three nights (NJ,NY,NY) was quite a treat. One, if not the best, B-side!

He made a comment "I see someone is bootlegging tonight. Well a good choice and I hope you make lots of money."

I must admit I did record tonight's gig using an IPOD and voice recorder and I was at the front but I have to add it was not to make money and is just for personal use not for profit. Was trying to capture the moment to listen to when I am old and decrepid.

Thinking about the over-zealous security, it's obvious that they don't have to behave like that when employed to work other artist's shows, and so they've either been warned that Morrissey fans are pretty hardcore or been taken completely by surprise at what faced them.

Either way, we should all feel rather proud.

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (Morrissey Stopped Mid-Song Angered by Security)

Morrissey, loyal to his fans, seemed bothered when someone tackled him earlier in the set. But he seemed even more bothered about everything with Radio City, encouraging people to bootleg the show and "make lots of money". It was unfortunate that he stopped singing during There is a Light because of the security procedures on another loyal fan. Nonetheless, Morrissey looked amazing! I think he's been working out since those last shows at the Apollo in May. When he took his shirt off, and opened his shirt, I could swear he looked cut. This was still a wonderful evening. And although I paid 163 dollars for 2 tickets to still be Gestapo'ed into my seats and reprimanded each time I tried to get closer, it was worth my time. Long live the Moz!

To the guy who tackled Morrissey - what is wrong with you? You obviously are not a fan and I hope they arrested you. You almost ruined it for all of us, and I am amazed that Morrissey continued after that. If it was me on that stage, I would have left. I can understand why he may retire if there are "fans" out there like that.

To Morrissey - thank you for gracing the true NY fans with your presence once again. We hope to see you again, at a true venue like Roseland or the Apollo. You should also consider NJPAC in Newark, New Jersey.

Off-topic I know, but the thread isn't up yet (I'll know doubt repeat this post when the thread does appear). Bought the new single, had chance to listen to it several times now, and here are my impressions/opinions of the songs thus far:

1. 'Let Me Kiss You' - lots has been said about this already, obviously. I think this song tends towards the middle of the road somewhat but is elevated by Alain's Smithsian jangle between verses. By no means Morrissey's best, but charming enough.

2. 'Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice' - there are aspects of this songs that I like, but I do think it is flawed, and most definitely b-side material. On the plus side, the production and playing are raw and visceral, probably more so than any other Quarry-related song, even 'It's Hard To Walk Tall....'. Morrissey's lyric is mischievous and amusing and his vocal performance is pretty impassioned - I think the part where Moz almost barks "DON'T make fun of daddy's voice" while Jesse's guitar squalls in the background is quite thrilling. The problem I have with this song is its total lack of a discernable melody. It has some great moments, but overall it's fairly tuneless. I doubt it would have made a big impression on the charts if released as a stand alone single.

3. 'Friday Mourning' - parts of this song ALMOST soar, but not quite. It's not as good as I was hoping, but it has its sublime moments. Committed vocal performance from Moz (again) plus splendid lyrics. It opens with a pretty, elegiac piano figure and the chorus very nearly soars - where Morrissey sings "This dawn raid soon put paid to all the things I whispered to you" and "When they kick me down the stairs I see their faces lined up before me". Super lyrics, but the problem is that, where the chorus nearly soars, as Moz's vocal rises to compliment Boz's "solo", the rest of the song is musically forgettable, so that overall you get a song with lots of potential, but, again, and aside from the chorus, lacks a distinctive melody.

3. 'I Am Two People' - despite the clumsy title, not as bad as I feared. Lyrically, this is lovely again - "I am two people/One that you know but don't like/The other one you don't know but you don't want to/I have two faces/One of which you know/The other of which for your sake I will never show". Super! BUT - yet again, in terms of the music, the chorus is quite nice and the part that goees "Look once to me/Then look away" is moving, but the rest is musically (NOT lyrically) forgettable. You've most definitely heard the music elsewhere before - not that the tune's ripped off, or anything, but it's very generic in parts.

So, overall, a solid set of b-sides, each of which has elements to reccommend it, but each of which is also flawed in some way. Certainly not his best b-sides, but by no means disastrous. I'm very happy with the lyrics to 'Friday Mourning' and 'I Am Two People', but the music, despite having its moments, is just not quite memorable enough.

I was in row DD. It was further back than I thought it would be, no mind, still a good seat.
But the tallest prick there was in the seat in front of me, and either side of me were two fat dorks who stood there the whole show with their arms folded. To make matters worse, the one on my right had terrible breath. I had nine times more fun at the Apollo shows.

The show was great! Morrissey was in great form. His voice superb. It did seem the music was louder than his vocals and often drowned him out. Not sure if that was because of where i was sitting; left wing orchestra? could be?
Nancy Sinatra really was there? I thought he was joking! funny!
Security was an abomination and Moz was POed.
It was still a fine show. I hadnt seen him since 98. This was my girlfriend's daughter's first time seeing him. She is 16 and loved the show immensely. I was happy for her!
I was amazed by all the empty seats. WTF?

Last night's show disappointed me a little. Nothing with Morrissey's performance which was AMAZING but just the overall venue vibe. I know this has been said time and time again but I moved up several rows and there were still so many empty seats. I was literally being PUSHED back to my seat by the venue assholes. They also wouldn't let my friend come back and sit with me when he went to go to the bathroom. ERG!!

This was my fourth and last show of the tour. Very very very sad that this was the last one for me. I wish I could see them all- gotta say JULIA- you're a lucky girl. At least I was able to get onstage once, it made my week.

I'm counting on all you guys to fill me in on the rest of the shows. You have A LOT to look forward to.

First of all, the show was incredible! Morrissey was in fine form- he seemed to be in good spirits-very chatty and witty as always

What I'm curious about is the songs played between Damien Dempsey and Morrissey-

I actually went up to the soundboard guy and asked him twice about the songs, but was too embarrassed to go up a third time.
One of the songs is an instrumental song- which soundboard man only new the title to be "I'm Unbelievable" but he had no idea who the song was by.

The other song had a chorus that went something like this"Black Water, we're riding through the edge of time"

If anybody knows any information about these songs- I would greatly appreciate it! I can't get the Black Water song out of my head!!! I need to have it!!!

Hi all,
    I said I'd get as far as I could, by hook or by crook, and I did. Unfortunately that meant standing in front of the orchestra pit with two extraordinarily mean, power-drunk guards about two feet in front of me, blocking the entrance. (I was on the audience's left side.) My seat was in FF, but I managed (by essentially walking around and around until imperfect list came on) to get to AA. (FYI: I have really light hair and I kept arguing with the guards, or rather, they kept arguing with me. ;) )

For those of you who weren't there, it is IMPOSSIBLE to overstate how unreasonable and cruel the security was. Every time I'd yell something out, they'd either give me a hateful look or say something to the effect of "we know you're not in your seat, you do one thing we don't like and you're gone." One of the two kept shaking his index finger at me like you would at a two-year-old, as if to say "tsk, tsk, no having fun now!" I was SO distracted by their police-state type surveillance I really couldn't even enjoy "How Soon Is Now?" but quickly decided SCREW THEM, I just drove 400 miles and these little Napoleon-complex peons weren't going to mess it up for me. (Can you tell I'm still a bit perturbed? Hmm...)

  There were two other girls standing near me -- making ZERO trouble -- and about halfway through the set a woman with a walkie-talkie came and took them away (to where, I have no idea).

    I finally asked one why they kept staring at me, and he said (something to the effect of) that the only reason they were even letting me stand there (they were positively DRUNK on power, I tell you!) was because they were highly amused that I knew all the words to every song; then he said not to 'test' him. It was truly, truly sickening; I hope Morrissey knows that's why no-one was yelling anything out during the breaks in the songs! I did, however, jump up and down and yell out "NO! They're EVIL here!" when Morrissey was asking about the security. The shrimpy one got right in my face and asked me if I wanted to go back to my seat, blah, blah, blah.

During "There Is A Light," at almost the exact same time the girl tried to jump up, I began to get ready to jump over the barrier into the orchestra pit; it would've been soooo easy as low as it is. (Say what you want to about the appropriateness of this, I don't care. Moz obviously deserved someone (who wasn't going to headlock him) to make an attempt!)When I saw them dragging her away, I saw my chance. I barely had my foot on the barrier and the guard sneered to me, "Don't even think about jumping over that." (I knew it was over, and it never really began, ha.)

          So, to clear up the confusion, here's what I saw and heard of 'the incident':
      The girl was reaching for Moz and being dragged away. I couldn't make out the first thing he said, and then he said "Well, thank you, thank you for trying..." I should mention that, as most of you all have, I have heard Moz speak many times. When he said that, though, he sounded JUST like he sounded in the Smiths days, much younger and vulnerable. I felt really, really sad for Morrissey. It really bothered him, and it made me want to go punch one of the guards in the face or something (a fight I would've lost, alas). You could tell he was really ticked off by the way security treated the girl, and it seems like he said, "No, no..." when they first started dragging her.

          Anyway, he paused for a moment, and said "SHIT!" into the microphone (at which point I started cheering and rooting for him, which of course provoked the guards to get in my face and start with their stupid threats again. I mean, it was absolutely unreal. So needless to say, I missed what he said after that, because I had Napoleon 1 and 2 in my face.).

I haven't seen Morrissey live in a number
of years.

What a joy and surprise to hear him playing
Smiths songs. !!

Also, I think he is touring behind his best solo
album ever. And I that's saying a lot from me.

Morrissey's performance was wonderful last night
as was that of his crack band. Electrifying,
passionate, powerful, beautiful.

Now...here comes the critical parts:

Morrissey should FIRE his sound person.
Radio City Music Hall is wonderfully
designed acoustic room. And I have seen
many great sounding rock shows there.

Morrissey's sound person traded all sense
of spatial depth and dynamics for a big LOUD
stupid bass heavy sound that nearly
obliterated Morrissey's gorgeous voice.

This seems to go against every principle
Morrissey stands for aesthetically. I could
understand that type of mix if it were a
Hip-Hop or Heavy Metal show...but Morrissey
needs much more delicacy and subtlety in
the way his sound is presented.

I was sitting in the orchestra in the center
of the room, where theoretically, the sound
should be best. And...it was one big loud
bass heavy mash. No depth. No subtlety.
And again...Morrissey's voice not standing
above this fray very well. (Although he could
be heard.)

Next complaint...$80 tickets...One hour and
30 minute performance. Come on now.
No way. Morrissey should have much more
respect for his fans than this. He's not
that old....and with the glorious beauty
and depth of his song catalog....I'm sure
he can muster a two or two and half hour
performance. This is just plain wrong.
I'm sorry. We should expect more for $80.

With all that said...I had a wonderful time.
Morrissey has been in my life for many, many,
many years now and I am so thrilled to hear
him hitting one of his great artistic peaks
(You are the Quarry) this far along in the game.

I thought I'd post a few tidbits and comments I remember Morrissey making:

--He changed the first part of "The More You Ignore Me..." to "The More You Abhor Me..." He was making these hilarious facial expressions to go along with it, too. Truly funny.

--The iPod thing seems to be a long-term, if not permanent change, to "Bigmouth..."

--At one point he looked into the pit and asked "Why are you all STARING at me?" HAHA!
(I don't know if it was because they weren't singing or into the music or what; I couldn't see who he was speaking to...)

--When introducing the band, he said something to the effect of (this is hazy) them being better off before they met him.

--He changed a lyric in "November...": Does anyone remember what it was?

--He said to Julia, "Julia, where are you? Oh there. Ok, I feel comforted now." I found that especially hilarious, because I posted something to that effect a short while ago (that I felt Julia was a comfort to him -- which she is!).

--Said "Hi," to Nancy Sinatra, but I couldn't tell if he was joking or if she was really there.

--Said, "Are you all bored in the balcony yet?"

--He also said something about being dead, but I was in the middle of exchanging pleasantries with one of the Securonazis.

--Spoke about his and Nancy Sinatra's singles being released, and he was slurring some of the words, which was hilarious...!

  I was wondering Since all these artist are going to Perform today In DC and they are fairly close so maybe they dicided to catch Morrissey In concert

hello all, this is actually my first post here.

I feel like I need to set the record straight and say a big thank you to everyone that has been standing up for me. Basically I got both legs on stage but right when I was about to get up the gaurd grabbed my left arm. I reached out my other hand for Moz which he came over and grabbed. He was obviously really pissed off and I was hoping that he would ask them to let me up but I think he was just too mad at the entire night by then.

I really didn't want to hurt him but I didn't want to let go of him either. Oh and I can assure you that I would not have done what that first guy did. I just wanted him to know how much we all love him and I really think you can't control it. He looked into my eyes and said "Thank you for trying, God Bless You!" That was when I decided to let go of him after saying God Bless you back and and a few I love you's. I was crying and that was almost all I could handle.

He then went on to say "a big Boo to security!" I think another guy got on as he was walking off, lucky!

I also gave him the Nancy Sinatra album early on in the show and he was really upset then because he was trying to take it from me but security was trying to take it from me at the same time!

It was the best night of my life and I am sorry for everyone that it was cut short, it was not my intention and he wanted me up there. There is always next time at the apollo!!!!

Seeing Morrissey perform is like entering into a an alternate reality in which all may not be okay in the world, but at least everyone is in it together. Walking out of the show, and seeing headlines in the papers and on TV, I thought "why is there even a presidential race this year?" If only Morrissey fans could vote for president, I am sure Bush would have a hard time garnering a single vote. I love the crowd at Morrissey shows. Everyone seems relatively intelligent and respectful of each other. Even a place as large as RCMH is able to contain a lot of love and understanding. Screw the security that tried to ruin the night! Morrissey did the right thing by ending the encore after the first verse.

The moment that summed it all up was when the show ended and there standing on the stage, looking somewhat confused stood a man wearing a Heinz t-shirt. He had climbed onto the stage while the security were occupying themselves with the brave girl who just wanted to approach Moz during the encore.

It is hard to get away from the election year nonsense and boredom in the US, but at least Morrissey fans can agree on who would make the best president for the next four years. Gotta love the Heinz t-shirt!

Too bad the night had to end due to an overly aggressive security guard.

The concert was incredible. The best part for me was seeing Moz afterwards a he got to the tour bus.

I alos got a chance to meet and say hello to some great fans who I also saw in Philly.

Julia (no, not the Julia he is always talking to) it was great to say hello to you and your friends.

I saw a bunch of other Moz fans I recognized from the Tower, but did not get an opportunity to say hello.

did anybody notice that New York City got 18 songs as opposed to 16 or 17 in other cities ?

just got back from new york,fantastic weekend,met some really great people including Julia which was one of the highlights of my stay,the gigs were out of this world, the venue superb,Morrissey as always was himself,the band were at there very best and seemed to have moved up a couple of gears from any previous tours ive seen, bloody faultless they really brought the songs to life with a passion ,lets face it someone had to piss on the parade,life could never be that perfect, the security should try adding some fresh veg to the huge plates of neat e-numbers they have spent a life time shoveling down there outsized necks,and maybe they might lighten up a bit,i was pushed pulled shouted at and ruffed up by one twat on the saturday, however i witnessed oafishness in abudance from the in house goon squad on both nights,the crowd tried bloody hard in New York but up against these twats never had a chance.please just add there name to the opening show "list of imperfect things"(which i loved)some people feel cheated he walked off, finger on the pulse stuff from Mozzer he stuck up for his fans i myself would have been disappointed had he stayed.
