Morrissey/Nancy Sinatra on the cover of "VOIR"

VOIR (= TO SEE, in French) is a free weekly Canadian newspaper about culture, in the city of Québec. It is written in french and is available each new thursday.

Today's edition (thursday the 30th of september) shows a cover picture of Nancy Sinatra and Morrissey.

This is a photo that seems to have been shot on the same session than all others that have been seen until now (they both wear sunglasses).

The article inside is about Nancy Sinatra's new record. There is a short mention of Morrissey, which says approximately:

"The hardest song to record was LET ME KISS YOU, excellent duet with Morrissey. Says Nancy : "His poetry may sometimes seem difficult to understand, so my daughter has helped me all along to find the right interpretation. I've had to deal with his sense of self-depreciation, the way he uses to see himself as someone ugly, while I find him beautiful in the inside as well as the ouside." That is all about Morrissey.

The rest of the article - one full page - is pretty laudatory about the album. Thought some of you might be interested...

    ...and how?
    A Guardian review of Nancy's album (Score:1)
    For anyone interested:

By no means the mish-mash that generally results when an icon is dragged out of mothballs by well-meaning famous fans, here's a late-period album that actually stands up with the best of a much-loved artist's work.

Most of these collaborations fit like exquisite kid gloves. Where else, in particular, do you imagine Nancy Sinatra living if it isn't in Calexico's luminous, dustblown American dreamscape? Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley's two songs are clearly the work of fans who haven't just played the records a thousand times, they live inside them. Close to best must be Thurston Moore's spooked Momma's Boy, Nancy's vocal acting as retrospective confirmation that she was the pre-punk Kim Gordon. And in truth, even the more workmanlike contributions (Pete Yorn's country knees-up Don't Mean Nothing, an almost Blondie-ish romp through Steven Van Zandt's Baby Please Don't Go) are so well-appointed after a couple of listens that they start to sound like recently unearthed classic material. There's more wit, atmosphere and incontestable (if elegantly understated) star power in this sleek, chic, foxy record than in the rest of the month's albums combined.

All sounds very sexy and impressive, doesn't it?

I've got Jonathan Ross on at the moment and have seen Nancy. At 11:30 on BBC4 there's a prog about Chrissie Hynde and Morrissey is interviewed candidly on it. QUICK! Sorry, I can't get thru to the 'General' area.

Sorry. But that WAS funny though. So how exactly did your daughter, the Morrissey specialist, help, hm? Do tell us. Lol.
(Oh aren't I feeling a bit naughty for laughing? Well yeh but it's not as if it was... REALLY pleasurable. You know.)

Ah Nancy. If you had your own voice, (which I gather you never had) it would be "let me kiss Hugh", right. But I am not surprised you had no idea how to interpret that song. Such lyrics...("No no no. That wasn't good enough....But PLEASE don't try again!" lol)

...That said, hmmmmm... I'd be interested in hearing your rendition of "Trick me" by Kelis. Does your daughter know her as well...?

-PS: Jarvis: I'm very disappointed. "Your marriage will end in tears!" (shakes chicken heads.) Well I hope not but hey. Get a grip young man!-
