You are the Quarry has done the unthinkable (for a Morrissey album) in the UK chart: it's started to climb back up!

It's only a tiny increase (31 to 28) but all previous solo albums (possible exception of Viva Hate) have sunk without trace following a very high initial entry. Could it be the airplay for FOTGTD which is already getting played a lot more than Irish Blood (Radio 2 single of the week last week and put on Virgin playlist)? Or maybe the exposure at Meltdown?

'First of the Gang' as of this morning (21st June) has been added to the Radio 2 B-list joining the likes of George Michael and Janet Jackson! R2 is the UK's most listened-to station. They hardly played Irish Blood at all (didn't even make the C-list).

    it's the exposure (Score:0)
He's had enormous exposure in the UK in the last month or so, higher than at any time since Viva Hate. I doubt FOTGTD will do anything spectacular but a reasonable amount of airplay could keep the album in the charts for a few more months. What he needs to do now, really, having done so well both in the UK and US (and in Europe too - but the UK/US are such influential markets) is to release a second strong album in the next 18 months or so. That would confirm the stature of his return - but a Southpaw Grammar will send him straight back to square one.
