  • Lovely on stage as usual. Bad audiance and an awful festival. Don't think Moz liked it so much. Anyway, you can't say anything about the gig - splendido (despite some problems with the mic). Funny complaints about Muse ("MUUUUUUUUSSSE!!") and Britney. Plenty Smiths-songs, finishing with "There is a light...". But couldn't he have said something about Berlusconi, couldn't he??? Love him anyway.

I can only repeat what I said in the message board. I watched the performance live from my comp but it was halted just before Crashing Bores. The crowd looked awful. There was a small group of Muse buffs shouting "Muse Muse Muse" throughout his performance and he mocked them "Muse-Muse-Muse" and then said "Kill them!". The Headmaster Ritual was aborted after the first notes cause the mic was broken. "Stop, stop, stop" Moz said. Then he called out Julia "Julia, can you hear me?", then he asked all the crows "Can you hear me?" and the crowd shouted "Yes" and he asked "Is it good or bad?". He started another song, not Headmaster, don't remember which one but his voice was hardly audible and he was holding his ears, then finally someone gave him another mic. Somebody handed him a pink t-shirt he said "grazie" and he put it on the drum platform. He said "We have a new record out, it's called You are the Quarry and you'll never going to buy it!". He changed his red shirt to a black one but just then the broadcast was halted. I wish somebody would tell what happened next, thanks.
Oh I forgot: Alain is still missing. Somebody must have asked Moz something about him at the beginning cause he said "He's not here. I don't know what to tell you", or something like that. I don't like this thing at all. Oh I loved Don't make fun of Daddy's voice.

  • If the journalists can manage to cobble something together, surely it's not beyond the wit of one of you fans to write something decent :)

  • very bad audience, very bad sound... but great, short (and troubled) show anyway.
this festivals' tour-de-force is sad: to see silly teenagers screaming for their favourite MTV band during "Everyday Is Like Sunday" is disturbing.
Morrissey's show in Bologna was a wonderful chance for (some and few...) italian fans to see HIM (the band...?), but be sure... we all wish to see Moz soon around here. in tour and In Person.

  • The gig started at around 8.20 pm. A lot of people, like me, had come just to see Moz (the last time he performed here was in 1999 with two dates). It was just too bad that there were 16 year-olds who were there for Muse and didn't know who Moz was. He came on stage dressed in jeans, red shirt and black jacket. Started with First Of The Gang and although my excitement, I couldn't bear all these stupid kids dancing and laughing. Moz was in splendid form. He also said something in Italian like "buonasera" and "grazie". There was a light rain and a lot of mud in the ground...The gig went on with Hairdresser and Irish Blood, then there were problems during Headmaster (yeah, I couldn't believe he was finally playing one of my favourites here in Italy!). Moz could barely hear his voice and the mic didn't work. So it stopped it. Mic was changed and he gave up Headmaster in favour of Subway Train->Everyday Is Like Sunday. The target of the gig was a young boy in the first row who was yelling asking for The Muse. Moz took fun of him all the time causing both the reaction of his fans and Muse's fans. The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores was dedicated to this Muse boy.
Too bad the set list was quite short (I would have preferred a cut for Big Hard's Excellent Fish, almost five minute...) and he didn't play I Have Forgiven Jesus, my favourite in YATQ). Surprisingly a lot of people around me were singing all the songs, from the old to the new (yes, I'll never walk alone). A Rush And A Push and Rubber Ring were played, and there was no encore. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out was played as last song of the set. There were men and women crying...three girls, black dressed with Smiths t-shirts were hugging and crying. I started crying too, on the notes of My Way.
I refused to stay for The Muse. I think Moz didn't like this Flippaut Festival, especially for the crowd. Or simply he doesn't like Italy too much...it's a shame because there are a lot of fans here...Look forward to seeing him again, but PLEASE don't play festivals anymore here.

  • I went to the festival just to see Morrissey like many others I saw there but I must complain about the festival organization. The sound was terribly low and awful. it's a shame to set up a stage that way, without respect for the artist playing and the crowd listening.
I guess italian managers of the festival lacked respect both for Morrissey and his fans. Maybe this gigs are arranged just to make money without any interest for music!...
Like many others in this forum said Morrissey had a problem with microphone, and I think also with monitors on stage. Also Bob had problems with monitors and guitars cables. (two or three times someone came to the stage to change his acoustic guitar or to help with bad working cables)
The mixers had done a really bad work (not only with Morrissey but also with other bands, expeccially with The Servant playing in the afternoon).
But then: how it's possible that the Muse are considered headliners of the festival (like it's written on festival ticket!)???... the last italian Mtv put out band!...
Everybody knows the importance and influence both of Morrissey and The Smiths on rock music... I felt so bad to see Morrissey playing before the bloody hurting my stomach with radiohead copy voice Muse!!!...
I think such things could happen only in Italy!...
there is also a precedent: in 1998 in Turin, at Pellerossa festival, the managers arranged a gig where Sonic Youth had to play before the local italian band C.S.I.!!!...
But in the end Morrissey was great in Bologna: he gave us a great time making fun of Muse disturbing fans.
I think he has done everything he could do in such a terrible situation!
At least I've seen somebody really talking to the audience and interacting with them directly, without filters or preshaped concert attitude!...
I'm sorry about the way I said theese things and maybe my english isn't so correct: but theese things has to be said!...
I hope Morrissey will come again in Italy in his person!... in Italy he has a lot of fan, but as everybody's seen festivals managed this way aren't good for him.
I hope Alain White will be well soon too, I wish him all the best!!! we missed him so much!!!...

    bye

  • I've driven 300 km and spent 80 euros to see the first Morrissey's concert of my life. I must say it was all worth it, but still I'm quite angry with Moz. Yes, it's true, there were a couple of teenagers asking only for Muse, and yes the audience was quite cold and the "organization" of the festival did not even mention Morrissey on the ticket (!!!); the ticket just says: MUSE (?!), the Rasmus (??!), Jet (???!) and many others (!!!). What ?? is Moz part of "many others" ??
Yes, all this is true, but I don't think justifies the contentious attitude Moz has kept for all the concert, the fact that he played for just 1 hour and didn't even cheer the crowd at the end of the gig, no way he came out for an encore (even though, it must be said, very few people asked for it). Well Moz, I still love you, and listening to "Rush & Push" and "Rubber ring" live is unvaluable, but still I think you should have discarded people disappointing you and do the best for the 1000 people who had waited 5 years to see you live in Italy. Come back soon and give us more and more of your extraordinary songs!
