Here is a multi-coloured painting of Smiths-era Morrissey I did. I would love feedback. Thank you.

This goes out to all you future cartoonists out here: Make sure your drawing is good. You know that many people on this website are defensive of Morrissey, and will rush to attack your drawing. So, when you put up one that isn't as good...you will get RUN.
This is not meant to flame, it is my honesty and a word of advice to those of you who want constructive criticism on your work. You will not get it here unless your name happens to be Picasso, Van Gogh, or Michaelangelo. Not Michael Angelo from Queens.

At first I wasn't sure about the colours but then I thought about 'Still Ill' and Morrissey's fascination with sickness. He looks ill in the picture and I think it works. Also I feel it is brilliantly painted.

Don't listen to the sycophantic slags, they're probably just jealous. You have a gift so keep with it.

              Good amateur caricature (Score:1)
Stylistically this is fantastic, and many of the criticisms awarded to your piece are based on very little artistic knowledge.

This piece is quite an intelligent amateur work of caricature. Despite certain prominent features of Morrissey which you could have also caricatured (oversized quiff and eyebrows), you have a good grasp of signature traits when it comes to portrait work.

I'm not so sure how I feel about your colour range. I feel that because the piece is mainly monochromatic cool tones, the reds clash, and perhaps you would have done better with a vermillion tone (the more orange scale of reds, rather than the deep alizarins). The cadmium yellows also work rather well, especially considering they're warm tones. In the future you might want to consider a transitory paler green between the bright yellow and the darker greens, because the contrast in the background draws the eye away from the contrast in the focal point (eg. Morrissey).

Hair is one of your weaker points, but this is finely contrasted with your grasp of the eyes and use of colouring around this area, thus 'enlivening' the main section of interest.

Looking at it again, I find I really do have problems with the colour range, but then other people probably love or respond to that colour range. It reminds me of the early work of German expressionist Franz Marc, though to be fair, he died in the war, so all his work was early... but I'm sure you catch my drift.

This IS certainly an amateur piece, but it certainly shows an innate talent. Are you an art student?

Lastly, it looks like you've used oils or pastels, so the word 'Painting' IS appropriate Rainman, as in context of any form of pastel picture is called a 'painting,' not a 'drawing.' Even a light pastel painting, is called a 'sketch.'

Muffin, do you have any other Morrissey work?

              Thanks,
