I have just succeeded in getting tickets for the Morrissey show at M.E.N Arena ahead of the advertised 09:30 time Saturday 28th.

A quick re-try of the site tells me that tickets are shifting at about 10 seats a minute at the monent.

It only seems that www.gigsandtours.com is early with the release as tickemaster and others are still not listing the show.

Good luck.

I found out on popbitch that all the standing tickets to The Morrissey MEN gig were sold out the day before they went on sale ( its 3.30 on Friday 27th )

I checked - and it appears to be true - so I had to make do with crappy seated numbers.

WTF is all that about??

How can they be sold out THE DAY BEFORE they go on sale - and how come I was able to buy tickets in the seated area.

Is this to discourage people calling in the morning - or is it the ticket operator ( seem to be the sole supplier ) spreading their bets??

either way, bastards.

  • My understanding is that today was an internet pre-sale via Moz's official site, and that many people got Standing Tickets, and that the rest will go an sale tomorrow as planned. The story, while admirable, is full of errors.

  • Two things - I've spoken to wayahead directly and they assure me that today they only put on a small part of their entire allocation. Many more tickets are on sale tomorrow at 9.30am as advertised (call them yourselves if you don't believe me).

In other news - a currently ticketless mate of mine spoke to a supervisor at the agency, who told him that the point of the presale was to gauge the level of demand. The reason for this is that a second night at Manchester is definitely being considered.

  • Excuse my french, but this is fucking disgraceful. I've got up early today, with a stinking hangover I might add, to come to my workplace so I can use the net to buy tickets, only to read that wayahead have been selling them early. I expected a good chance to get the tickets, probably the same as everyone else, only to hear that the tickets have gone early to other people.

And I bet most of the tickets will go to magazines and radio stations that offer them as competitions. I don't care if they're trying to gauge the reaction for the tickets - they shouldn't ruin the real fan's chances of seeing what could be the greatest gig in history.

As for the people flogging them on eBay already - don't worry, my plan is to recover from this hangover then hunt them down and kill them via a series of paper cuts with their fake tickets.

  • Just managed to get my tickets at 10:20 am (UK time) from www.gisandtours.com, though when I first tried them this morning it said "seated - sold out" and "standing - not available" (whatever that means). So I tried and retried calling the ticketline which was constantly engaged. I tried gigsandtours one last time and lo and behold, ALL ticket types were on sale again! I am presuming they releasing them in batches or something? Or is it just a plain old cock-up?

FYI, the NME ticketline has sold out, so has www.ticketmaster.co.uk (so they say). THere is a site called www.getmetickets.net which IS selling tickets, but at stupidly high prices (about £100 I think).

    SECTION BL 108, ROW W, SEATS 11 TO 14

*Ticketmaster informed me that I should select secure postage for my allocated standing tickets. Upon clicking "Back" it re-allocated me the above seats. It wasn't until the confirmation email arrived that I noticed.

  • (First of all: please be nice, forgive my bad English).

Hello, everyone, congratulations to all of those who got to buy their tickets for the Morrissey show; I didn't. From Spain, not sure why, I couldn't see the gigsandtours.com site, probably due to excess traffic on the page. And couldn't buy them via phone, because I couldn't dial that number from Spain. So: I got no tickets anyway.

What I find quite funny is people who have bought dozens of tickets that now they don't want, and the trade of tickets on comments. It's comforting to see that trade (it reminds me of the cards trading on school), it makes me think I would finally manage to get, at least, one standing ticket. What I really fear... is the bidding for the tickets, and how the prize can grow as the date of the show gets near... Plus, the plane ticket to get to Manchester, plus the hotel fee, plus the price of the merchandise I would surely buy... Well, what a mess, if only some promoter would bring Morrissey to Spain, it would save me this terrible headache!

It made me so angry when there were so many real fans waiting to get tickets. Anyway, finally got to the window at 10.40, after my friend texting me to tell me that it was sold out online and thinking that all hope was gone. I jokingly asked for 6 standing tickets thinking that there wouldn't be a hope in hell in getting them and I would be up in the gods somewhere. I had no problem getting them. I was sure that they would have gone within the first 5 minutes. Worth the two hour wait in the freezing cold. I'm so glad that I got off my arse and went down there. • I think the Morrissey team have been a bit naughty about announcing this gig as a one-off (big apologies if I'm wrong about this). There is bound to be other shows at around the same time (within a month at least). When these shows are announced, the demand for the MEN shows will subside, as the demand for the second Albert Hall gig did back in 2002 when touts couldn't even get rid of the tickets for £10.
Moz has a very enthusiastic fanbase but, in the overall scheme of things, not a huge Oasis/Simply Red/Paul McCartney size fanbase but the greedy ticket touts probably don't realise this (as they didn't for the second night of RAH).
I am certain you'll be able to get in to the MEN show without a ticket in advance. I will offer you my top tips on negotiaiting with touts closer to the event! But seriously, MEN is huge, the Moz fanbase is not. If you really want to go, you'll get a ticket alright (assuming other shows are announced and this isn't a genuine one-off).
    Trust me!
    John
