I am the biggest Morrissey fan in two states (IND and ILL). And it will be great to read a Morrissey interview in GQ. I will definitely buy the issue.

However, I have a strong reaction against GQ. GQ caters to stylish men who earn way more than $100,000 each year. I make a good living for myself, but that magazine is just way over-the-top. I am sorry, but I cannot afford Prada, and don't even get me started about Coach leather. Your average American simply cannot tune into GQ.

Also, their bizarre pictorial features are too much. Scantily clad women with the Calvin Klein types? It is all too much. In some regard, I am surprised Morrissey would sit for their interview. But I understand why. Morrissey has a great deal to say, and his influence can only help the GQ crowd and America in general.

Does anyone honestly know *anyone* who has said, "Oh, I saw that jacket in GQ- and I simply *must* have it! It's only $900! What a steal!"

You probalby haven't read the last couple of issues of GQ. It's really changed its tone and is reminecent of the old (early 90s, late 80s) Details--which is ironic. The writing is tending toward excellent.

Regarding the clothes, I too am perplexed about who could actually afford these clothes. But it IS, after all, the premiere men's fashion magazine. It should have the very best of high-end men's fashion. And just because you cannot afford Prada, doesn't mean you can't try to appreciate the style and detail that goes into these clothes. If I wanted to see clothes I could afford, I would just go to the Gap. There is an aspirational quality to magazines like GQ and the like. I think, GQ even recently had a spread on how to substitute less-expensive clothes for the high end Designers.

Finally Morrissey does an interview in a magazine I don't have to hunt for! I'm a GQ subscriber. = )

But wait, is the interview in the American edition or the British edition of GQ????

I see some posts slamming the magazine. I don't buy $3,000 suits or anything. And GQ themselves have a feature where they look back on "What were we thinking?" - showing some of the awful fashions they pushed. I think it's fun to see what the top designers are pushing, that's all.
But the magazine has a lot more than that. Their Style Guy feature is *really* helpful in terms of giving really good advice. I mean it's *really* good advice. I've learned a lot from that guy.
And The Style Guy actually advised people *not* to buy the super-expensive clothes featured in GQ in one issue. Also, there are quality, well-written articles in the magazine. Articles from gQ are regularly chosen for such books as Best American Essays. So, I dunno, that's just my opinion.
