MORRISSEY NEWS

Morrissey's new album is called:

You Are The Quarry

The album is released in April.

Songs include:

"I Have Forgiven Jesus"
"Come Back To Camden"
"How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?"
"I'm Not Sorry"
---
An anonymous person also writes:

I spoke with Boz Boorer recently and he confirmed that 21 songs have been recorded, including the five tracks debuted during the 2002 tour. He's going back to the studio today for a 4-6 week session, after which the album will be completed. Boz expressed a great deal of excitement about the new songs.

Additionally, Morrissey is expecting to do a three-month tour (!!) to coincide with the release of the album, with initial dates expected in April. Naturally, delays in the release of the album would likely postpone any such tour, but it's still great news for all of us in the Morrissey-solo community.

  • I think the album and singles are very clever! There are certain to be many innovative sounds and moving lyrics- I am sure of it!

I will be the FIRST in line to see Morrissey in Chicago, yes with gladioli in hand.

It is all worth the wait.

I must admit: A 3 month tour sounds very hectic and fast-paced. Maybe he will hit the midwest and the east coast. He neglected both during his last tour! That's okay: He's said Chicago is his favourite city to visit. Enough said! Do you think he'll ever do a record signing at a record store again?

I might as well set myself up for gainsayers, but the stars & tipes forever was in no-one's mind when this was adopted by mozfans. The Chant was first (?!!) used by Fans of Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the summer of 1981. You will all remember our thrilling runs tied, fewer-wickets-lost victory over Northamptonshire in the Natwest Trophy final that year.

Derbyshire was a mining area and as this was the time of the British Miners' strike (you may have seen the film with Al Pacino and Meryl Streep), the chant morphed into the moronic "'ere we go" of the strikers, which they used as a battle cry in their charges against the thin blue line of our heroic policemen. (My parents read the Daily Telegraph).

Anyway, it then spread to all three-syllable sporting teams in Ingurland, and to the fans of the Smurfs. (Morr-i-ssey and Joh-nny-Marr).

        Right. Stake your claim.

As more details/rumours emerge, I fully expect to hear that he's written a song called "Stop ringing my doorbell at 3am" and "I'd never shoot an animal but I'd make an exception with Squirrelhead"

I really hope he makes it over to the UK to launch his album here - I'd love to see him in concert again - pure happiness happening.

  • It's Julia, not Julie.

I am so happy it's only 3 month's. And I love it when Morrissey mentions Jesus in his songs (Lucky Lisp, November) and to me it only means that he's writing songs the way he used to. Even though I love Southpaw best.

I've been listening to nothing but Morrissey for 5 days straight (except in my car, which is all Elvis these days). I even tried to start a fight tonight with someone who tried to say that Hank Williams is a better songwriter than Moz. As if! Granted, Hank is great and all, but a bit simple, which is okay, but simple doesn't = greatest of all time ever no question about it.
Okay, that proves it, I've lost my mind.

Also, Jesus did not have long hair, so there is nothing there 'not to forgive', Charles. I must say that tastes do vary, but seriously the album title is awful - it rings too much (for my taste) like 'you are the missing link' - how can people like it? ...indeed they do vary, because I happen to love the title 'Come back to Camden' - it's so particular (Camden!) and so nostalgic - Come back to...I presume it's somewhere in England, which is exactly why I love it...knowing Morrissey would have to turn down such an invitation.
