I think its BRILLIANT if the sole reason Morrissey wanted the label was so his new creations say ATTACK on it. And even if that's not the reason, he should start saying it is, just to smite such as thee.

I find most of these comments hugely embarrassing and extremely racist. Making comments in "comedy" rasta accents is offensive and as for writing off an entire genre...well that's just ridiculous.

I'm a Morrissey fan yet I find much of this thread "vile".

Morrisey should come to the Troubadour on July 17 to see Detroit band The Witches for the Attack label....singer Troy Gregory has a new album coming out featuring a song called " There is a light that never goes on".!!!!!!!!!

yet another person who knows little to nothing about morrissey, his background, and his sense of humor writing about him as though they're experts. surprise, surprise. anyway, anyone who knows anything about morrissey knows that his mother was heavily into reggae and morrissey himself is known to enjoy reggae from the sixties. his infamous anti-reggae comment was almost certainly meant either in jest, or in reference to newer reggae/pop amalgams.

It's just a label.
What we have to realise is that Morrissey sometimes does things for effect. His talent for art lies in his attention to detail, his urgency: When Morrissey signed to the HMV label all those years ago he did because he enjoyed the idea of having that logo on his records... the little dog and the gramophone. The whole thing is stooped in a kind of mysticism for Morrissey, and it's the same with the RCA label... how wonderful it was for Morrissey to have that RCA logo stamped accross his records, just like Bowie... he has a passion for being included in the kinds of things he is passionate about, if you know what I mean (I'm crap with words, of course)
He lives in a house that was built by Clark Gabel and a host of other Hollywood greats.
Just because Morrissey has resurrected the Attack label it doesn't mean he's gonna start chugging out reggae, just the same as he didn't do Manfred Mann covers when he signed to His Master's Voice.
Morrissey is someone who feels the way music is presented is just as important as the tunes themselves, hence having a liking for these labels, hence those beautiful promo sleeves like that T-Rex type one for Certain People I Know.
What we should expect is beautiful Trojan/Attack sort of sleeves.. not raggae..

Mozzer rightly received a lot of flack when he tried to deny one the the Smiths what was rightfully their's ie. lots of dosh. The reason he signed for Trojan was because it was the only label to agree to him AND his band being on the contract. It's what he and the band wanted. Thanks Trojan records and long live Morrissey; and die to all those ignorant gits who refuse to recognise his lyrical skills
