          I have many (maybe too many) Morrissey articles over the years. However, "He was, simply, the funniest, saddest, smartest, loveliest, deadliest thing you'd ever heard or seen" goes some way to describing the initial impression of the man (and the band).....nice one!!

              This article really took the time to articutlate the culture of Morrissey that I thought no one really understood. Great Effort in Description, and I thought the whole world woundn't listen.

                  Great article, the best I've read in a long time o the man. Especially the part about heterosexual males being in love with him. I can relate to that. For once an article that doesn't stop at the usual cliché's(which I love reading too, by the way), but tried delve deeper and get really close to the art of (being?) Morrissey. Thanks.

                  Yeah, it was a nice little piece but didnt really say/tell anything new.

                  Looking at Simpson's website, I don't hold out hope of his Saint Morrissey book being any good. If all he's done is listen to the songs then babble on about them then it'll be "nice" but worthless and reeks, already, of hagiography.

                  It's also clear that, as a gay writer, Simpson's focus on Morrissey's sexuality is coloured. Saint Morrissey looks to be a gay man's recollection of listening to Morrissey songs? Hardly blockbuster material.

                  Sorry Mark but we can all listen to the songs and read the lyrics ourselves. If you've nothing NEW to tell us or reveal then what, honestly, is the point? It'll be a nice book perhaps, but utterly redundant...

                  I think Mark Simpson wrote an article in Uncut a few years ago about the state of Morrissey's career. I spoke to Mark Simpson, Moz and Linder Sterling after that article and it was very clear that the Moz was none too pleased with Mr. Simpson. To give Mark Simpson some credit, he did explain to me how the title of the article "The Paranoid World of a fallen (former?) idol" was not his doing and not to his liking either.
