New Found Glory's Jordan Pundik mentions Morrissey on MTV Cribs

So he goes on about how much he was into the Smiths and Morrissey when he was younger, and says he's told he looks like Morrissey. He actually looks quite a bit more like Quentin Tarantino, except even uglier. Whether so as you can note the resemblence or so that the kiddos will know who Morrissey is, they then play 2 or 3 seconds of the Boy Racer video with the NFG joker superimposed over it.

On 1.29.03, i was flipping through the channels, and couldn't find anything when i stumbled upon a new episode of Cribs on MTV, and the guests were New Found Glory. Their house was interesting, although their music doesn't seem to be, but the most interesting part was when Jordan Pundik, who is the vocalist for the group presented their cars. On the back of the first car was a purple sticker of The Smiths, which at that time, the background music was Morrissey's Boy Racer. He stated that he has been a fan of Morrissey since he was younger, and then he goes on to say that many people say he looks like morrissey, where he begins to sing (a little like morrissey ;)) and puts his hair up, where they then slip in a clip of the video of Boy Racer. Other than that interesting clip, the rest of the show was a bore.

    It took you guys this long to report this news?
    And of course, comments like 'oh no he looks or sounds nothing like Moz' could not be left behind. WHATEVER!

    There are very few artists that mention Morrissey or The Smiths as influences to them, and the ones that do you have to put down with such ridiculous comments.

    You should be glad Morrissey gets mentioned once in a while on MTV because you know he needs every little bit of publicity he can get.

      blah, we're allowed to criticize... that band sucks... it's bad publicity i tell you.

      i'm constantly amazed at just how little about music a lot of the people on here seem to know... seriously... 99% of these stupid emo bands (and yes, "real emo" has been dead, but now it's a "style," thus my usage of the word) cite the smiths and joy division as their influence.

      the problem, however, is that these bands suck. they should just leave what has been done untouched, because they can never top it.

      such a bad scene... plus they steal the style and ideas of everyone else...

        emo/pop punk (what's the damn difference?) is everywhere these days...but ya wanna know what?
        Let the kiddies do whatever the fuck they want.
        WE love Moz and that what counts.
        Guys like that glory fella have spat a scene that should be dead: oh, and he's making too much money off of it. I remember seeing those guys at Santa Anita a few years back. Yuck. The reason they are so popular with girls and jocks is because of stations like kroq (who are controled by Clear Channel--so they play the same 20 songs over and over again) and mtv (I'm only guessing).

        To end on a rather sacastic tone:
        "oh yea...I hope moz is exposed to more jocks, they could use an interesting drug besides weed"

          I was watching their most recent video on MTV, and my 8 year old daughter (who has been raised to love Moz) yelled "mom, that guy looks just like morrissey!) I agree.

          Didn't like the show, Didn't like the person. I liked the fact that the PopPunker Lead singer of NFG may have opened new ears from younger crowds to Morrissey.Good job. This may help the Moz man in a search for his record deal. right.

            ..but I watched the show anyway because I had a hunch that The Smiths/Moz would be mentioned. Needless to say, both were. I was just happy to see that tiny clip of Morrissey's gorgeous face. Even if the New Found Glory lads make sucky music, they still have good taste. (The one bedroom in their "crib" was actually quite nice.)Hmm...

            I'm glad for the clip. Maybe it would rise curiosity in some NFG fans and they'd download some Smiths or Morrissey tunes.

            You never know...

            Little mentions like that could end up creating fresh fans. Fresh fans lead to more interest and demand. More interest and demand may lead to a record deal for Morrissey. Just thinking aloud here...

            Maybe I'm being a tad too optimistic. ;)

              Allright He might look like moz just a little. That really doesn't give him the right to say it like that. Sort of like he's comparing himself to moz. Now that just isn't right. True by him announcing moz name now all the teenie boppers will start listening to moz that's wrong. Next thing you know carson will want to book moz for his struggling show.

                I just saw the show myself, I agree with most of the comments posted above; a little publicity is good publicity. Especially when it comes from MTV, where they only care about Boy Bands and such.
