I thought that Moz was signed to Rhino records. I read that he signed a three record deal and the first was the U.S release "Best of". It does not matter, as long as there is new music on the way.

At long last!Of course it was only a matter of time until Moz got a record deal but it's good we've got a tour,singles and a new album to look forward to!Rock on Morrissey!!

If gut feeling counts for anything, I think this really is true. And believe me, I have not been fooled by the previous false alarms. Oh, I just cannot stop smiling...

Did Rough Trade have something to do with the
signing of Moz? If you go to Sanctuary's site,
they are part of their "group". I love it no matter
what, I am sure Morrissey has some jewels waiting to be recorded!!

Looks as if this label also handles "rough trade" as well. This, to me, is a good sign. It fits with Moz's background--a label that's used to handling very large indenpendant artists.

may also be releasing Pulp's "We Love Life" album in the US (or actually Rough Trade via Sanctuary) within the next 2 months. (the album was released several months ago in the UK on Universal/Island-but they lost there deal here in the US after This is Hardcore)

Pet Shop Boys, Pulp, Morrissey--Sanctuary really are stacking themselves up to be a good source for british pop/rock in the US.

I have just received some sort of confirmation about this. Unfortunately I cannot be more specific due to promised discretion. But it really seems to be true! Ah, lovely, lovely, lovely!

And by the way, we can be _pretty_ certain that David would not release this burning rumour without solid confirmation...

Although I love loads of different recent artsists, he is still the one I keep an eye out for - I'm really happy! Thought it would never happen!

Could Pet Shop Boys (who worked with Johnny Marr on their latest LP) provide the link between Morrissey and Johnny that we've been longing for?

Hi! I am a lifelong Morrissey/Smiths fan- and the biggest Morrissey fan in the state of INDIANA.

Anyhow- is this a worldwide release date or a UK release date-
Case in point- Simple Minds.
Two of their recent albums have been released in Europe only "CRY" and "NEAPOLIS".
Very disappointing! I had to spend hours to order each. "NEON LIGHTS" was a US release- just very odd and annoying for die-hard fans.

the website didn't mention any signing of morrissey but they got joey ramone on their roster so i think it's a good move in morrissey's part. it would make sense with the supposed morrissey tour coming up.

Sanctuary is a mostly metal label. You all realize how sad it would be for Moz to be considered a contemporary of Styx and Queensryche, right?

bought rough trade this last year. i bet the same people who were involved with RT are putting out the new moz

and i noticed by the way that on the sanctuary site there was also mention of 'the moldy peaches'
a band that i saw live this year and i thought they were great, very amusing
Also noticed that ministry was on there, completely different style, but also one of my favs.

Sancuary, but I do have a number of their releases, such as the Kinks BBC Sessions,
Joey Ramone "Don't Worry About Me," and
more. What's important is their releases
have good distribution.

I'm optimistic about the signing but as for the Oct. 8th date, I'll believe it when I see it. I can recall holding my breath for Maladjusted's release. I fear we'll be waiting for news about the release of that new single a year from now.

Given the amount of rumours with regard to Morrissey signing record deals over the past few months, I really don't understand how anyone can be getting excited at the stage of the game, the chances are you could just be setting yourself up for another fall, because so far there doesn't seem to be a mention of this anywhere other than what's been posted on here and that isn't proof at all.

Don't get me wrong, I would like to hear a Morrissey album as much as the next sad Morrissey fanatic, but I won't believe it until I am holding the cd in the hand, well, perhaps I'd believe it if I read on Sanctuary's website.

If this is true, this is great news. Any proof? i really don't want to be so optimistic.

Surely the best thing he could do would be to release a double album. If he's retained his creative edge he must have an abundance of material waiting to be recorded. It was also act as an apology to his loyal fans who've had to wait for so long for a new album.

While my curiousity was peaked when I saw Morrissey was looking for a new drummer that something might be going on other then another tour, after years of slavishly checking this website, I had literally given up hope in the last few weeks that I would ever hear new Morrissey recordings. It was a shocking suprise to see this news posted today. To the doubters out there, I would only ask that you look to history. Frank Sinatra's career was on the skids in the late 40's/early 50's. After that, he produced 15 years of his, and popular music's, best recordings. I suspect the recording hiatus we have all endured will yield us a bounty as fruitful from Morrissey.

hmmm will if this news is true and his release date is in oct. maybe nov. will spawn another morrissey tour.

Well now, this has just made my day. My grandfather, who is also a Morrissey fan, had a slightly different reaction to the news:

"GUESS WHAT?!?! MOZZY HAS A NEW RECORD DEAL!!"
"Gee, that's nice honey. Get your homework done."

And what a fitting name for that record label, for Morrissey is a sacred artist. I don't mean that in a corny way, I mean it in all seriousness.

I think we should wait till more news comes out about this before getting all excited about a new record. If this is true, then great. But I don't think I can believe this rumor yet....especially when there is no mention on their website about Moz signing on.

I dunno about this...there seems to be an awful lot of crap artists mentioned on the Sanctuary page. Dokken?!? Are you serious?

I guess an affiliation with Rough Trade makes up for it, though. We shall see...
