BTW, when I was at Ventura at Moz performance and told some guys I like Moz solo stuff even more then Smiths', they gave me a weird look like I just came naked and wild from Amazon Jungles...

Of course I asked those guys: how many Moz-solo albums they own.. The answer was oh so frickin' predictable: Bona Drag, that's it... Sigh!

Sorry for off-topic, but I was always similarly amused by numerous Stooges admirers (Iggy and Stooges) who, prior to Trainspotting, were ignorant or indifferent to Iggy-solo stuff... Of course, after this cult movie Trainspotting every little twerp started to claim that he/she/it was an original Iggy Pop fan back from ancient times to now, but me and my Boston friends, we knew that we were the only ones at Boston Common, who were into both Iggy and Stooges from like 1993...

I think its possible that you can like something and somehow not like something similar, but yet to use morrissey as a comparison is odd. He was the vocalist of the pervious group the smiths and of course as the vocalist being solo, so in a sense its the same generated music.Instrumentally though morrissey has experimented more solo.

I still would have preferred she had used an example more to her standards like "If you like cherries but you don't like cherry pie"

I would've dropped my coffee on the floor! Good for her, I always figured her for the Poison, Bon Jovi, Cinderella type.

I think it's great that Jillian mentioned The Smiths.I have also noticed that actress Drew Barrymore is a Smiths fan because "How Soon Is Now?" is featured on The Wedding Singer soundtrack and "Please,Please,Please Let Me Get What I Want" is on the Never Been Kissed soundtrack.

A better analogy that would have made more sense is- "You're a fan of The Smiths but not of Morrissey's solo work"

A few weeks ago, I was watching the weather channel in Jonesboro, Louisiana (I live in New Orleans)and I heard a muzak version of "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" playing in the background. I was shocked- it was pretty cool. So, what's the connection with the weather people and The Smiths? I don't know, but the idea of middle-aged weather guys/gals bobbing their heads nostalgically to elevator-Smiths tunes is too funny in my opinion!

Interestingly enough when Ms Barbieri was just starting at Fox news back in the early 90's she was a 'hip' type interviewer of bands and local culture. In fact she interviewd Morrissey at the UCLA campus before the show I beleve where people went into a "mele" over everyone rushing the stage upon Mozz's ivitation...but things got out of hand. In the interview Ms Barbieri seems kind of infatuated and almost in awe of the old Moz. Just a little side note.

I e-mailed Jillian Barberie and asked her if she's a Smiths/Moz fan. Her reply: "Have been for years!" You never know where the Mozzer's fans will show up, I guess.
