Immler writes:

To all of our sisters in crime,
Sadie has delivered on its pop promise of a massive pop event.  Specter, featuring Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke of The Smiths, are being deported from the U.K. to shoplift with Sadie.  The crime spree begins at This Night Has Opened My Eyes, NYC's second annual The Smiths/ Morrissey night, then continues on a law avoiding tour of the east coast.  Visit sadiepop.com for all the grit you'll need to get yourself through this glamorous happening.  You'll kick and kill yourself if you miss this, sexy.
your serenading purse snatchers,
Sadie

I agree with one of the above suggestions that you should come to see Sadie and make fun of them in person. Just pay the $10 cover, then tease and torture me all you like. I may even enjoy it. There is nothing Sadie enjoys more than flying over Mike Joyce and Any Rourke with their own money, and then having ugly Morrissey fans with mock wit and poor hair make fun of "Press Releases."

Yay, I have never seen Sadie play, but I saw the Salford Lads plently of times! These boys put on an amaazing show and they're some of the cutest boys around :) The fact that they're playing with Joyce and Rourke's new band is just too much to fathom! I can't wait! I'll be in NY and at the Tune Inn show, find me everyone and say HI!

And to those of you that have SUCH a problem with the press releases, why don't YOU book a show and write your own press release, genius? Jealousy is more rampant with Morrissey fans than any other subculture I can think of!

I must say the night was really worthwhile. I arrived early and there was no one dancing. The DJ played a few Smiths tunes intermingled with some Wings, Beatles and other 80s favorites. My grandmother would be proud, because after watching a few Smiths songs go to waste while no one danced, I danced, all by my lonesome, everyone immediately joined afterwards.

The first band Sadie, I have been cruel and aloof to for no good reason, I had never seen them play until now. I enjoyed them quite a bit, they played all original stuff, and one Smiths song, if memorey serves me well, Shoplifters. Very animate and enjoyable.

After the intermission when they played more good for body and soul songs, Specter came out.
This is really the reason I am writing this down. Specter were great. I'm not even just saying there music is great. It was someithing more. Seeing Mike and Andy - two legendary Smith players on stage, two yards from where I stood - something about it made me very happy. Specter by the way sounded very good too. I can't describe music well, but I was head banging to most every tune, if that means anything.
After the set I forced my way to the stage to shake Andys hand, which I did. There was something in the accessiblity that was amazing. After I saw Andy sign a flyer fo someone, so I asked him to sign my forearm, which as of yet is still untatooed, but at least a nice momento for the next 2 days.

In between Secter sets at least twice and maybe even three times, guitar cords or drum parts to Smiths tune were played. Imagine standing there, a foot from the stage, seeing two realistic looking Smiths, and then you hear the intro drum roll for Queen is Dead. I died, I laughed, it was so funny they knew of course what we wanted.

Moving on, after the show I look on the dance floor and who is there but Mike Joyce, living it up, with a 50 Smiths fans. Andy was apparently hanging by the bar too. I said Hello to Mike, who was likewise pleasent and great.

So overall it was amazing and surreal and kudos and sincere respect to the promoters who are also Sadie, Thanks you for bringing 2 of the Smiths to NY and puting this together - For some bizare reason I was the only one who wore a Smiths T, (is that tacky now?) - so that was me, appropiatelty enough with my name on my shirt.

Oh and hello "Tremendous Heart" ?

I now get to listen to my Smiths music with a wonderfully appreciative new set of ears.

                      Thank you so much!
