I went to see "The Grinch" in Glendale, CA the other night and during the pre-preview part (the part when they play the crappy music and have ads for like "go eat a Pink's hotdog" during the movie) there was a commercial for "Oye Esteban". They played "Everyday is Like Sunday" and the announcer described the DVD and called Morrissey a "UK sensation". And described his shows as "Legendary". I was totally shocked to hear such a thing, especially at the movie theatre. They are usually playing R Smelly or Dirty Knee's Child. They don't even play Morrissey on the radio. Why in the movie theatre? Very strange...

playing an ad for 'Oye Esteban' is cool, but what i really wish they'd do was stop playing crappy music, like 'the latest single from hootie and the blowjob' or 'the new release from the 'fastball' album'.

and i really hate that stupid character made out of film who conducts some imaginary orchestra. how about playing a clip where the thing just stands there looking depressed as it listens to 'i know its over' or joy division's 'atmosphere'?

No Orchestrating Film - Just Sexy Pepsi (Score:2, Interesting)
At the B-loews theatres, we don't have a conductor made out of film. Instead there is a Mr. Popcorn waiting for some hot little cartoon Pepsi. Then she is waiting for the movie and he brings her a Pepsi to drink. Isn't that some sort of cannibalism? She then thanks Mr. Popcorn with a kiss and he shoots his popcorn all over the theater. It is a very erotic. That Pepsi is one hot piece of ass.

It might be cool to see . . . (Score:1)
But it's just a paid ad like the rest of the stuff you see before a movie. Paid movie advertising was probably part of the promotion package planned by the company.
