At Fuzzbox Magazine, there is a fresh interview with Mike Joyce in Swedish. Mike tells alot about his time in The Smiths at what was so unique with the band.

Sorry folks, but it would help if this website was written in English. It would help us people who aren't able to read a foreign language. This coming from a person who writes on this site in spanish. Go figure!

Other than this article being in a completely different language, who really needs to read the lies that Mike has made up? I think he has caused Morrissey enough trouble as it is. Why doesn't he just move on?

I can understand that he wants to be remembered for being in one of the best pop groups that ever existed, but in my opinion he has ruined it for himself. He knew at the time when he was a Smith that what he earned was for what he did...playing the drums. He never wrote one single lyric and I don't think he ever wrote one single note of music.

It is interesting, Morrissey was questioned back in 1985 about how the group functioned together. The journalist asked Morrissey if the band made decisions as a whole or if it was left up to one single person in the band. Morrissey replied that they did discuss things as a group, but it was ULTIMATELY left up to "JOHNNY AND I". That's enough for me. I actually heard these words in Morrissey's own voice, so there is no question.

I agree with the last post - who cares what Mike has to say? I think Mike would like to believe that he contributed more than he really did. I don't think he was ever really happy being a Smith anyway - so, why would he want to talk about it now?

Yes, Mike Joyce, I'm sorry, I mean Mike Gross did write a song about Morrissey. He wrote a song about Morrissey but only Mike's neighbors got to hear it. No record company would release anything that Mike would attempt to put out. Do you have any Mike Joyce solos? That's what I thought. How could you even have made that statement to me? You just insult my intelligence.

This goes out to Mike Joyce. I have officially changed your name, Mike, my dear, to Mike Gross. It's much more suitable, don't you think? Anyway, Mike Gross, how do you feel now that you lied and were the cause of all the trouble that Morrissey had to go through because of you? Just remember this, Mike Gross, just when you think that everything is figured out, and the balance seems serene...... Anyway, you don't even deserve those words. I'll put it to you this way, Mike Gross, just when you think everything in your life is well-controlled, it can all just slip away. Just like sand in your hand. Your "happiness" will not last because it wasn't achieved in a "true" way. You lied, and like I said in my other message, what goes around, comes around. You were not "true", not even to yourself.

i think morrissey is an absolutely brilliant singer. his lyrics are incredible. i truly believe he is one of the best songwriters/ lyracist ever. i will forever be a fan.

i don't know what mike joyce said in this interview, but i don't think it's necessary to be so harsh on him. why assume joyce is lying and moz is telling the truth? anyone who as done a bit of research on moz can tell you that there is a side of morrissey that is business-like & manipulative. that being said, it doesn't make him any less of a star - or diminish him in my eyes as a songwriter. it more or less humanizes him. he is not 'almighty moz' but rather a real person dealing with relationships, fears, career moves, finances, and band turmoil. sometimes he does the right thing, and sometimes he doesn't. this does not make everything he says true - and we shouldn't take it as gospel. try to use a clear mind and weigh both sides of the issue before judging joyce (or moz) so harshly.

i don't know who's right and who's wrong, but please, let's not be so quick to judge. i'm sure he has some veritble claims against morrissey and vice versa.

Yes, I agree completely. He is a lying sack of trash; I know it; you know it; Morrissey knows it; Mike Gross himself knows it; even all of Mike's associate moneygrubbers know it.
He will regret what he has done. If not here then, not maybe, but definitely "in the next world". Like the bible says, an eye for an eye.
