It says on the packaging that some of the songs are remastered. But I was at tower records and listened to them on the listening station...but they sound like the regular versions...has anyone noticed this???

How could you possibly tell anything from a listening station? It does have a lot more powerful sound than the original CDs. "Remastering" is a meaningless marketing term. Bottom line. The record sounds great and that is all that matters.

I think they have been remastered - even Alma Matters sounds better, but the best track is Sing Your Life, it sounds terrific.
It's a better remasters job than the awful Smiths compilation.

Sorry to burst your bubble my good man but the SAME people did both records. And the Smiths comp. may look bad but it sounds great. I challenge you to find one specific thing that is wrong with the sound.

I was going to say the same thing. The same people who remastred the Moz "best-of" (which he sanctioned) and The Smiths "best-of" (which he didn't) also did the excellent "Crystal Days" Echo & The Bunnymen boxed set. I think the reason that Moz & Marr objected to the "The very best of The Smiths" was just that they weren't consulted. I haven't actually heard the remastering on that one, but I hear it sounds pretty good.

And Moz hated the picture on the cover sleeve. The lovely soul cryied when he saw the sleeve, isn't he a sensitive little charming thing?

I didn't think they did enough with The Smiths one, nobody heard the album was comming out until the last minute and it was rushed too much unlike the Bunnymen box set and Moz album. I heard of the bunnymen box set over 6 months before it was released.
Listen to Last Night I Dreamt....... the orchestra in that was no way polished off.
