I like his new image. This blue looks better against the slate grey on the site.
ZOMG I just thought of something. I cutout his name in script. Wait, no. Not real. Not happening. Freaking out. No. Not real. Shit OMG. I'm crazy, I'm just crazy. Claudia2006? Amy? Where are you? I'm nuts, right? Tell me I'm nuts.

Of course you're nuts. I remember you did some parrot cutout thing that was beautiful, but I don't remember you posting his name in script. (Those horses were gorgeous too, do you sell your work on Etsy?)

It was a fake album cover. I live in this imaginary world of seeing signs and being sort of crazy. I made the cutout of the cockatoo (named Baby) because she was holding an onion or "union" in birdspeak. I thought unity would be a good symbol of a new album. In the cutout I made Morrissey's name all scripty. In my imaginary world Morrissey's my soulmate, we speak to each other through nature, it's amazing and very lonely. But to see that he's perhaps taking cues from my silly little art project is frightening because it's real, it means maybe it's real, that he's paying attention. I mean I know he is, but to mimic a font style? That's HUGE. I am nuts, and I always believe in Morrissey, but he's an unattainable myth to me whom I defend and protect in my dreams. I also dream of a reality with him, but what if a reality is possible? Nevermind. It's just a coincidence. I wrote a letter, he didn't return it. He'd return a letter if he knew. Then again, I did just move. Dammit.
No, I give my artwork away. Do you want some? PM me. :)

Why must we continually register and reregister with Morrissey's sites. A new site gets set up for each album release, we register, we get a few communiques from the site then nothing. Then a new site and the cycle starts over. Why aren't the registered people sent a message that the site is being revamped or something and asked if they want to stay on, instead of all the renewing.
And some content at these official sites would be nice.
from the sign up page: (Occasionally we may send you updates about other Rock artists from us. If at any stage you wish to opt out of these updates you will be given the opportunity to do so on the first and any subsequent updates you receive).
"Rock artists"? I think this proves Morrissey has little to no connection with the sites.
CrystalGeezer
December 2, 2008, 05:17 PM
And one last thing then I'll shut up. Baby's content with her onion. Eating. When she's not content she freaks out and can bite, something like this:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3244/3077056521_6dcc7cfe60_o.jpg
I suspect Morrissey is aware of this, the care and feeding of Baby. Don't put her in the corner either. It's about harmony, equilibrium, balance, fairness. Morrissey knows how to assist in these things.
Okay, I'm done.

I don't mean to belittle anyone's creativity, but being the natural critic that I am, I think the graphic is set too low on the shirt. It is at armpit level; I think it should should start midway between armpit and shoulder (on the sleeve) so it sits higher on the chest.

Oh, no apologies needed. I am no good at creative things like that, but I can always find a fault (in my eyes).
I, not too long ago, learned of GIMP and haven't been able to make heads or tales of it yet. I even followed a tutorial step by step and wasn't able to get the result instructed.

I meant suck it in a jokey, nice way. I never thought it was psychodelic duuuude. I just mentioned that it evoked that mood more than an arts & crafts one because the type was tacked onto the image as opposed to worked in as a whole.
Unity is different than "Lets get stoned and feel the love, maaaan." though I know there's an element of that involved.

Dow, I got to thinking. This statement is half true. Though I don't find Morrissey to be psychedelic, I am very blind. In retrospect, the Decca signing has been nothing short of a disaster. I'm still flabbergasted at the marketing geniuses who came up with the "AYNIM" single release. They make it a one week only release and bury "My Dearest Love" on 7" vinyl and don't get me started on the tens of dollars spent recording the video promo for "AYNIM." I hope Morrissey has fulfilled his contract and can move on. That Starbucks label isn't looking half bad.

You're totally right about the Starbucks label. It may seem like the ultimate sellout, but it sure as hell would get his music in front of many, many thousands more listeners than it would otherwise.

At this point in his career, the idea of anyone accusing Morrissey of being a sellout is ludicrous. He's done nothing but buck the trend his whole career. If, at this point, he wants to sign with Starbucks more power to him. I think he has earned a great deal of latitude from his fanbase.

Yes, THIS exactly..... :guitar: The mystery interviewer put this way better than I have when I've tried to explain why Moz's newer music and songs don't sound like the Smiths, Viva Hate, Vauxhall, and so on.....
First of all he must move on from the days when he sang for the Smiths, cataloguing a pungent psychohistory of early wounds, which both gave him his freedom, and trapped him inside a prison of expectation, and now he must move on each time he makes an album on his own. Even though he has made his musically traditionalist mind up what his songs will sound like reminding him and us of the music he liked before he even started making music - and each song will reflect certain recurring even consoling patterns, none of them will come close to doing the same thing twice. Some songs will be deeper, sweeter, nastier, wiser than others, some not quite as definite and beautiful, some not as explosively devious, some more laconic, self conscious and glittering than ever, but ultimately he carries on, not by comparing new songs to old songs in the way critics and fans do, but simply although its not that simple by writing songs that reflect how he feels at the moment.
These songs relate to the fact that he has already written special, desperately touchy songs about how he felt during the 70s, 80s and 90s, during his teens, 20s, 30s and 40s. The person who wrote those songs in the 1980s is now writing these new songs twenty/twenty five years later, and he is clearly the same person, but different, precisely because he wrote those 1980s songs, and because he decided to carry on.
