How do you pronounce Morrissey? I have always pronouced it MORRISAY, but I hear a lot of people say MORRISEE.

How do you say it and any thoughts on what is correct ?

Just curious :)

If I pronounce it Morrisee, I think I sound like a right twat. :pI think my accent only allows me to say Morrisay

You're Canadian right?
I spent every summer up there...so I think you're combining

Morrissey + eh? :)

I've always loved Canadian accents.

2:33 :D That's how I say his name.

And if you don't want to slog through The. Worst. Home. Video. Ever. then here is a live version at 2:34. That's right, in the midst of all that Black Celebrating who's number one? :)

My French friends pronunce Morrissey as Morrisay, first time I heard it I did corrected them. :p

In French, Spanish and Italian se is pronunced like sell, sexy.

I can't help laughing when I hear people from Birmingham say Morrissey.

I tend to find that Americans pronounce it "Moor-is-ee". I'm in the camp that pronounce it, "Mor-is-ee", and this is how the vast majority of people I've spoken to about him pronounce it.

Here we say Morrissay in a very latin way of course. I know better because I've heard Moz saying it himself and I know it's Morrissee. But in my daily life I just blurt out Morrissay because it's easier and if I pronunciate it correctly I sound pretentious. Which I am.

:D yeah! especially if you're a non-english speaker (which is my case). my friends always tease me when i pronounce things correctly, for instance, "i-miule" instead of "eh-moole", like people in my country say. its just so annoying!

and please indulge me for saying this.. but how can some people love an artist and dont even pronounce his/her name properly? of course we are all free to say "morrissey" however we like, but like, in concerts when i hear someone in the crowd yelling "morriSSAY" it just sounds disrespectful to me and i bet morrissey himself feels even more annoyed than me!

Doesn't sound like a big deal to me. But I'm sure he didn't appreciate when somebody graffitied "MORRISEY" next to his house in LA.

lol yeah... didn't know 'bout that and it is more awkward indeed. maybe moz doesn't care 'bout the way people pronounce his name. has he ever talked 'bout it? but i would care if it was with me!

I think that if he were bothered by "Morrissaaaay", he wouldn't release the Disappointed B-side with a guy screaming that.

Here is "Morrissay" too, donīt know if it is right or no it is just the way it sounds according to the sound of a language addapted to another I think, and in most countries with spanish language is like this too, like in Uruguay, Chile, Spain, ...also in Scotland and France and Italy of course.

Also we like to remark the "RR" :D

Here is an example (not the best, note how they wrote Moz!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14wKBFj5GKU

Morriss-eh. With a Weegie accent you come across as a bell end if you say it any other way!
