i have a strong feeling the paris video will be shot in some hollywood FILMSTUDIOS:
.in the "parisian filmsetting" of course..
since the lyrics obv suggest to see paris ..even the "holllywood paris" filmset
but who knows......
to shooting in a "paris filmset"this might be cheaper than shooting in paris directly which might be too expensive to shoot in.
.like for exapmple new york where a lot of people do choose toronto over ny but of course still stating the story takes place in NY
as its too expensive to shoot there and toronto(it was a city in canada where they go always for a "FAKE" ny i remember that ..pretty sure it was toronto) since toronto has the same look like NY

It'll be a video in which Morrissey and the band either: stands around, sits around, walks around, or drives around lip syncing to the song.
Sadly, that's the standard M.O. these days. Morrissey despises videos, and the budget for said videos seems to run well into the hundreds of dollars.

It won't show anything of Paris. It won't be glossy or slick either. It will be low budget and cheap. And everyone afterwards will come on to complain because they won't be able to understand why Morrissey still refuses to have big budget videos like George Michael.

Maybe as penance for being snarky on stage it'll be a big huge Minoguesque production with his hair blowing in the wind and motion graphics and green screen shots and expensive puppetry and half naked ladies and tons of movement and camera work...nah.

The band playing surrounded by a load of white with a few little dogs running about. Someone dives over the drums again, someone tosses Moz a tambourine behind their back and Morrissey looks a bit odd. Very pale but I think it's the make-up rather than Morrissey being actually ill. The song seems to be played on a higher tone as well (if thats the right term).

I am a bit disappointed with the video. I wanted something akin to the video for Ouija Board with famous people and a story. It's just too similar to previous morrissey videos, and those dogs are ugly. what's wrong with a nice retriever sucking a toilet roll or even that wolf-dog he once had. It's just going to lead to moronic morrissey fans going out and buying these stupid looking things - remember a dog is for life, not for Morrissey.

Minimal style, no "scenery" then! But links to older videos.
The jumping, the tambourine, the "scars" the eyeshadow. Ghostly makeup which accentuated the blue eyes/clothes.
It's better here than I remembered live, but a short song, nevertheless.
What's with the pugs? Cuddly but ugly? trying to pretty the wrinkly?
Will we wonder whose dogs they are, and what their names?

I thought that was dreadful. Possibly his worst video. Morrissey looks awful and I can't for the life of me understand why on earth he would want to look like that. I much preferred the video for 'All You Need Is Me', in which he looked healthy, happy, and appeared to be having fun. Here he looks like he's terminally ill.
The white backdrop reminded me of early videos by Elvis Costello and The Jam (no bad thing), but, to me, it just didn't work at all. Nice jump, though.

The band are in a completely white room.
Two little doggies trotting around they have interesting collars.
Morrissey is wearing navy jeans and a stylish open necked navy shirt with some ruffles.
The other band members are wearing white t-shirts didn't quite see what the logos say. Except for Boz who is wearing a horrible jean jacket.
The drum kit says refusal on it.
Solomon jumps over the drum kit again. A tambourine is chucked to Morrissey he does his thing bends down to the dog at one stage.
The mood of the video is a little sinister to say the least. Morrissey is channeling Robert Smith or Hamlets dead father with all the white make up and eye liner.
Contender for the least imaginative Morrissey video.... very possibly.

I am two people about this video.
one thinks it's the same old Moz, trotting out another bare bones, barest minimum, sub DIY, poorly executed video.
and the other loves him for it :D
it is awful but that's the template he's set for himself, it could possibly be a nadir for his public image though. he looked (intentionally?) awful and sickly, but then this is the man who is STILL ill. so what do people want?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned (unless I missed it) the possible Paris Hilton reference of the dogs. I know he's gone on record saying it's not about her, then he throws in dogs out of nowhere.. it'd be an awfully cheeky thing to do!

As a fan, I never expect much from his videos. My issue with them is this: Morrissey complains about chart position and his album sales constantly. If you are going to piss and moan about it, then take the time to showcase your music in a promo video that is greater than or equal to the usual high quality of the music.
Not having seen the video, I would ask someone who has: if you were amongst the uninitiated, would seeing this video make you want to learn more about Morrissey and his music or would you it turn you off?

Another typically low budget and unimaginative Morrissey video, but anybody who was expecting anything more was obviously deluding themselves. As far as low budget and unimaginative Morrissey videos go however, I thought this one was quite good. There actually seemed to be a little thought that went into this video and I thought that it suited the song. Shame that it will never come on TV ever again, but hopefully it will be available to officially download from iTunes.

I wonder what his necklace is made out of?
It is very interesting.

The necklace is very cool... slightly Egyptian looking.
I don't like the eyeshadow, but I don't think he looks dead at all - they all look washed out on purpose due to the lighting. I love his theatrics while singing. :p
The dogs are hilarious b/c they don't know what to do and they're so obviously thinking WTF??? :D

Loved the video it seemed more appearling to me than the "all you need is me video" even with the return of the tamborine. loved his moves! He ovbouisly still has it, not too sure about the importance of the poochies but it alll worked wonderfully and to be honest it was a break from the shite on saturday tv. Wonderful

Jessie Tobias looks hot <3
Not a fan of Moz eye makeup, or the theatrics :(
His Necklace was really cool :guitar:
Vid is ok, definitely not good, but compared to some of his others, it's not so bad... less dogs and more Jessie would've made it 100x better ;*)

A actually liked his make up and his moves quite remanisent of his younger years and i wouldnt nessesarily class them as theatrics more - expression. Very natural very morrissey.

Thanks for the upload. Disapointing video to be honest but wasnt execting much.
I notice Christopher Pooley was not in the video. I wonder is he still in the band after the rather poor comments he received from various fans last year. It would be great to see Mikey Farrell back

How hard would it be for Morrissey to make a decent video? Honestly. He should be capable of producing some unforgettable visual imagery.

Who was in charge of this video? Who friggen greenlighted the mime makeup?
Everything else was fine..I mean I don't expect much from Morrissey videos. I knew it would be some type of band performance, but didn't expect him to be 50% closer to looking like Klaus Nomi.

As with any Youtube clip you can see a higher-res version by adding "&fmt=18" to the end of the link, as in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7_Nps1WhFQ&fmt=18
You can see his blue eyes better and pick up more details. Enjoy.
Oh, I think the death-warmed over look somehow suits the song. I think the French themselves may really embrace this song and Morrissey's unwillingness to play the "refusal to age" game if it's promoted properly there.

That sounds about right -- the UK uses the PAL broadcast standard (25 fps instead of the 24 of film or HDV), which accounts for about a 4% speedup of contents originated in 24fps, hence 150 seconds squeezed into 143 seconds.
Still didn't notice it -- good ears.

I didn't care much for the video. The makeup is horrible, he looks really bad. Showed to my friend and she liked, has a pug named Paris, go figure. Still a new album means a tour which makes me happy. His videos have never been all that great for the most part.

It’s obviously in heaven, Morrissey is dead, he’s cavorting with two gods who wear antennae like bugs who are tapping into him. The tambourine is his crown, passed from the drummer who keeps the beat then onto him then presented to the dog if he wants it as he kneels. This all happens in death. Keep in mind as he kneels two guitarists in the background play, similar to the two robots in Beck's “Hell Yes” video who are in sync in the background. This is Morrissey’s ode to hell which is actually quite heavenly it would seem. That’s why he wears eye shadow, shadows are the opposite of light yet the whole thing takes place basked in the light of heaven because in Morrissey’s world, good and bad are equal. I’m not sure about the stone and steel. (Kebab and leest likely too?) I always thought it was a reference to the “I fell” tower, but it could be something more complicated. So Solomon jumps over the kit again and in so doing a message is passed on, in this case some sort of dream about broken teeth/broken saw blades/failing health/death since the tambo is broken (it’s a crown, those things that cap teeth) most likely a reference to just plain ol’ death, though apparently Freud interpreted it as a significant change in one’s life. You’ve made yourself plain could be a reference to VICE, according to the Penguin Dictionary of Symbols, “Crowns even decorated the brows of the vices, such as Pride, if they were pre-eminent, or, according to taste, of Gluttony and Lust.” I imagine broken crowns could symbolize vice, since that’s what the dog overlooks in view of the word REFUSAL as the lyric is sung. It's a fantastic video. Morrissey needs to gain some weight though, just a little. :)
Also someone kicks the symbol at the end. Love it.

Remember when Morrissey put thought and care into his videos? Little treasures with wit and charm like "Suedehead," "Everyday Is Like Sunday," "Interesting Drug," "Ouija Board..." Oh, so long ago...
to be fair, he's never liked videos or making them. he's plainly said so. i think if it's in his control, very little effort will always go into them.
i didn't like the outfit or theatrics. i loved the dogs and the simplicity.
in terms of the theatrics-- is it just me or is he getting camp-er? (i'm ignoring the smiths in that, think of the solo era). or maybe it just seems stranger because he's older now??

Having just listened to one version after the other, it's definitely been sped up for the video - and I think it sounds miles better for it. I love the intro, and it really lends it some vibrancy.

I explained the technical reason it sounds faster on UK broadcast -- it's not an intentional adjustment.
Don't mind the 4% speed increase myself.

ohh you guys!! i just got home from work and saw the video. i love it. i love how simple it is. its funny how similar it is to All You Need Is Me, even Solomon launching over the drum kit again. i love how morrissey offers the tambourine to the dog. i like it a lot more than the All You Need Is Me video.
and yes...he's getting camper.

Ooooo K... Let's see... Where should I start... First thing I noticed: Morrissey's eyeshadow and hated it... Although in the HRes video link it looks much better or acceptable. Anyway, I don't think it suits him...
As always, I LOVED his dance movements... They're his trademark. I'm crazy about the way he moves.
They, again, play games with the tambourine and the drummer does the same jump over the kit and I'm beggining to wonder if they want to leave that as a trademark that will repeat in every video they make. It could be an interesting repeating seal and everyone will remember that in the future.
Did anyone see the fake scar in Boz's face? And his jacket was unstitched in the sleeve.
For some reason I can't quite understand, my exquisite Morrissey reminds me here in this video of Marlon Brando... Gestures, looks... I don't know, but I've seen it 3 times now in 10 minutes and everytime it happened the same to: He reminded me of Brando.
Lovely part when he's saying that nobody wants his love and he offers the tambourine to the doggy and the doggy rejects his offering... Quite synchronic.
You know what? After all... I liked the video.. With Morrissey looking as a defrosted dead, as NRITH said and I agree, but still, love him and liked the video, especially because the song is beautiful, wonderful, warm and... just gets me... Morrissey I love you, as always... :D
