I see no "delete account" option in the User CP, and for the sake of privacy and the fact that I do not post here anymore, would a mod be able to delete my account, posts and all? I am leaving the board, and I really feel there should be some sort of option to delete your own account, but I'd be really grateful if someone could do this for me (or if there is actually a way to do so myself, direct me to the information on how?) Thanks!

I'm afrad, you just stop using the account which fulfills your request.

You can delete all of your posts, one by one, and uncheck the control panel options for receiving PMs, emails, and/or other communications from members. I don't see anything else in your profile that would give away anything about you.

You can always go out in style and get yourself banned, while you're at it. Come to think of it, after you've done all of the above, send your password to Buzzetta, who's just dying to spring a Doomsday act on the group. Letting him do it under your name would give him some practice. :D

I thought you would be. :D Besides, I'm dying to find out what it is, and I'd rather not see you get banned.

Heh?

Even you have nothing better to kill your time and need to have some jokes, don't encourage trolling on the forums.

From the part of the text I could see on the main page, I thought the title of this thread was 'Is it possible to have my pie and eat it' :(

No, that does not fulfill the request. The account is still there, just unused.

Someone can go back and delete their old posts, but not if they have been archived.

If the original poster is worried about the account being hijacked when they no longer use it, I'd advise deleting all posts and then posting the password in "off topic" which is a sure way to get the account banned.

If you'd like to change your user name, you have to re-register with a new user name.

Thank god this was merged with a thread from half a year ago. Wouldn't want to clutter things too much now, would we?

Unfortunately David is too busy to updating mainpage and other things relate to the site maintenance issues.

He would suggest all the people who would like to change/edit their user names to re-register with new user name.

Just out of curiousity, SS (and/or anyone else wanting to change their name), what's the problem with simply registering a new account? Sure, your post-count would go back to zero, but if you wanted other posters to know you were the same person as sistasheila, you could simply put "formerly sistasheila" under your new name until people got used to the new identity.

Please read David's earlier post on other thread which addressed to a similar question:

http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=70370&page=2#40

there are many more details regarding harassment which users and many times moderators don't see. It would take a while to do the work that is being asked. I choose not to do this but you are free to ask on this board.
My time is limited as this is not my full time job and I prefer to spend this limited time updating the site, making sure the code is working and the servers are up.

Yes, after re-registering you can change your password as well.

That seems fair enough. Thanks for the link, Kewp. :)

Go on, explain to me why you'd need more than one account...
I uinderstand the logic of needing to re-register if you wanted a new name, but why then continue to use the old one

Cheers

And stop using original account if you'd like to change your user name.

But if they don't like your new username, you might get banana'd.

one last question: does get the old accounts inactive meaning you cant view albums guestbooks anymore etc after a certain amount of time?..i have registered a new account but forgot about it..but wanting to use it in the near future
its almost the same name : sonicsister
i still want to t keep the old one
(old..welll,,,at the moment:its still the current one im still using.sistasheila)- and have the possibilty that messages can be posted there on my sistasheila account and also view some of my threads when i search by the name...
i am asking this cause i saw some accounts after the user having registered under another....,did the user himself choose to delete the account so not only no more messages can be sent(contact details are gone), but also old posts are gone...

Only the site administrator can delete / remove a user account.
If you choose to create a new one which is fine, but better stop posting the forums from old account.

You can still log on to your old account and receive messages / send messages to other users.

Site administrator only removes a user account if it's absolutely necessary.
