View Full Version : Which genre would make Mozza unlistenable to you?

Just for curious conversation. I have no doubt that with Moz's persona and witty lyrical style that he would be able to dabble fluidly in a wide range of musical genres. But what if Moz had kept his musicians stuck on a particular musical style for the duration of his career? Lets go as far as to say that all of the titles and lyrics to Moz songs are kept, but, for example, Moz were to be known solely as a punk artist. What genre would be the line that YOU would have to refuse even partaking in Morrissey?

Its a really close tie between rap or techno...that being said Mozz could go for more Synth.

I went for R&B/Rap.
Only if by R&B you mean poppy crap rather than rhythm and blues.
Morrissey rapping would just be foul/really, really embarassing.
But... it's never going to happen :D

Vicar in a Tutu and Death at One's Elbow have C&W influence because Johnny Marr is a huge fan of Johnny Cash.

I doubt it would be possible. If, for example, he decided to rap, I would be beside myself with hysterics and love every moment of it. Much like the way I am with Sorrow Will Come in the End, really. To hilarious to not love.

Rap would be weird, and probably embarrassing, but country would be just unbearable.

I assume you speak of the throwaway rubbish "pop hits of today" played on mainstream radio that has been tagged with the R&B monkier over the past decade or two.... in such a case, I agree.
Of course, traditional Rhythm and Blues, from the 1950s and earlier, is the foundation of what came to be known as rock and roll.

Death metal, power metal, speed metal. Well, to make it short, basically 95% of metal nowadays. I wouldn't be able to bear it.

you guys are stupid if you don't get the connection between country and rockabilly.
ohyeah, this is not off-topic. what I meant is "Country and rockabilly share the same roots. Anyone that is seriously into the roots of rock and roll can't ignore country music from the 50's and 60's."

I see the country/rockabilly connection, but there's a difference in good ol' Country (Johnny, Patsy, Dolly, Willie, Hank...) and bad wannabe annoying Country- I can not even name one--you guys know what I'm talking about... The country I don't like is that far extreme -which there seems to be a lot of. :p IDK, Country is just one of those genre's that's hard for me to get into.
hey, what is with that new Kid Rock song. Is that Country now or what? Oooh, I've named one! :D;) His new song... WTF? Damn, I wish people would stop using other people's music!!

I have not heard the new Kid Rock song, but I pretty much hate all contemporary country music. I don't know if Kid Rock is country or not, but if he wears a cowboy hat I guess that's all it takes nowadays.

And my father is a fan which makes it ten times worse.

Sweet Home Alabama!? That's worse than Eminem using Dream On. I thought that Kid Rock was an MTV parody when I first saw him, like someone was getting Punk'd or something.

No, that was the ultimate. One of the worst rappers uses one the greatest songs. Jimmy Page appeared with him playing it on Saturday Night Live, too. I wondered what P Diddy had to do to get that?
