I have actually bought both of these tracks from 7digital but on trying to burn them there seems to be some sort of conflict between the protection and my version of WMP10 - it crashes it every time. Despite having re-downloaded the players and re-installing, it still does it.
Has anyone else had the same problems...?
Could someone EMAIL me the two live 'download' only versions in a format which I will be able to put onto CD - ie without that stupid "protection" on them...?
Many many thanks. Email stevenaskew2002@yahoo.co.uk

I could also use some help w/ this. I bought the Roundhouse recording from 7Digital, but couldn't buy the Hollywood Bowl recording from UK iTunes b/c I live in the US. Any help w/ this will be appreciated.

You can easily unlock the WMA files, just do a Google search for this file: FairUse4WM.exe

I disagree - people will still download it. I asked for it to be put up here, and I'd actually already bought it from 7digital etc. I also bought the download of the studio version, AND the CD..!

yes YOU bought it, but quite a lot of people are not so decent when they can get things for free, I am not trying to rip you a new one or whatever over it, I have certainly shared b sides and stuff in the past and I am with you re buying the stuff, I would personally say sharing this kind of stuff is better when they are not trying to chart them.

I'm gonna say this is from night Two of the Roundhouse gigs because the KY sample was not used when performing the song like this recording has that night..
funny I thought someone forgot to hit a trigger pad for the sample but I guess it was intentional..

why do you think that? he has used it since.. or do you say that it is because you think he wanted a version out there without her on it?

I've (officially) downloaded the Roundhouse version, but somehow I'm not able to download the Hollywood version! When I click the link, I'm being asked if I wanted to download some strange file. Do I need iTunes for that file or some other thing?

I have successfully unlocked my WMA file. You have to install the programme, run it, select the file you want to unlock, and that's it. The one thing you have to do first is obtaining the original license, so you might have to play it with your Windows Media Player first, which does exatly that.
Once you have it unlocked, you can play it on other players/devices without problems!
So, what about the other file? Which format is it, what do I have to do to be able to download the official version?

does no-one else think sendspace is slow? so slow that it just gives up on itself. anychance of a yousendit link for the tracks? big thanks to the uploader
the wma file procection simply requires an update (i think you have to be online for it update), which is just a license check. it updates the player allowing you play protected files (i downloaded a twang single with protection on wma). once you update the protection though im pretty sure you can play it via wma all you want, like oso blanco said. i always prefer mp3 though, there is no messing & you can burn it to cd unlike wma protected files.

^^^^
That's why I told you how to "unprotect" your WMA files!

Is this the seven digital version or not? I've bought this Roundhouse version TWICE from them and nevermind burning it to disc I can't even play it!!! Something to do with media user acquisition rights. Anyway the people at seven digital's response was no help whatsoever and now they're not responding to my increasingly irate enquiries. As a bit of a completeist who just has to have all these versions it's doing my head in, so is this

the version I'm looking for?
Cheers

What exactly was your question?

My question was whether or not the version of THPGU linked in Devoted 101's post corresponds to the 7 digital version?
I've bought the song from 7 digital twice now. I have six copies of it on my computer however I can't play any of them. I've spent days trying to get "media usage acquisition rights", aimlessly contacting 7 digital, trying different versions of WMP, switching my firewall on and off, reading reems and reems of gobbel de gook on the microsoft website about DRM's and all to no avail. What should have been a simple task of downloading a track has cost me 2 days of my life. Days I had earmarked to study for my degree which I'll now probably fail, while 7 digital will still have my £1.78 BASTARDS. You can understand therefore why I'd be anxious to get a reply.
Best wishes,
Alan.

So, I took the time and downloaded the file ... and yes, it is the Roundhouse version available at 7digital. But the sound of the original WMA file is much better.
What version of Windows are you running? And which version of WMP? Normally, it should load the license for officially purchased WMA files automatically. Once you have the license on your PC, you can "unprotect" the file and then use it with every player you like.

Ok thanks. A demo version of a program called bitetube seems to have sorted everything out and my 7digital tracks are now playing at last. Btw I'm using Windows XP SP2 and WMP 10 (Which I'm now afraid to change back to WMP 11 incase it balls's everything up again!).
Cheers,
Alan.
