So, I'm wondering what's happened to Mikey? Who's this new chap Pooley? Can anyone help?

It's a shame that Mikey has to work with other projects and needs to stay with his family.

Hopefully new guy's detail will be reported by Mel.

Mikey will be sorely missed, he was very multi instrumental and I used to find myself watching him on all these instruments a lot.

Mikey, if you are reading this, 'thanks for your contribution on the last two albums, hopefully you will have contributed to forthcoming material.:)
Good luck with future projects'.

Well, the new chap appears to be very experienced, having played with Jane's Addiction and Gwen Stefani. Here's a couple of links...

I 2nd everything JJ says here. Very sorely missed. A fantastic addition to the band.
I hope the new chap will be as good.

Nothing as far as I'm concerned, I'm just curious how he finds them all the time.

Edit.
I don't know much about neither Stefani nor Morrissette but aren't they "crashing bores"?

It could be that the musicians want to work with Morrissey and jumped at the opportunity.

I like YATQ but I think the production was horrible, however I think he learned cause I think the production of the later b-sides ("I Have Forgiven Jesus") were considerably better & the production of "That's How People Grow Up" & "All You Need Is Me" seems closer to them then to YATQ, something that I'm really happy about:).

That's possible yes but now there's been "so many" lately. Maybe they have contacts thru his current musicians or maybe they've helped him earlier whilst working for some record company or similar. Well, we can't do much but guess.

I agree with the b-sides. what is it about his production that you dislike? maybe i'm missing something.... it seems to be the overwhelming consensus on solo

Touring musicians are usually very versatile and they have to try out in order to be chosen. There had to be some chemistry there I'm sure in order to make the tour band.

Who else did these guys play with?

haha I'm going to nix your Hannah Montana suggestion because I have a hard enough time as it is trying to queue and get near the front of the Moz shows. If Hannah Montana opened for him, we'd have to start queueing like a week in advance. I like to shower daily so that's not an option for me.

About his production? It was very light weight compared to Lillywhite's work, boring in a way. It failed to capture the energy and was "2D" in a way.

:p Wow, I'm good at explaining.

Uh... I believe he's covered the topic of boobies (referred to by their anatomically correct name), and their relative size, at earlier points in his career. Was that not enough to be considered American? I'm sure he's breathing a sigh of relief at that.

amen!

I had the feeling Mikey enjoyed being in Morrissey's band, but bored a few
times during a gig, with songs he only can stand and look, or use
the tamabourines, I guess Mikey wanted a more electric/percussion sound,
and that he couldn't find it staying in Morrissey's band.

but he was a top musican, and will be missed

I was sit in a bar in Lille congratulating Morrissey on his new songs to my mate and an inspired setlist choice.

Now I am in work. And I remembered the burning question. Whats happened to Mikey Farrell? Hope him and Moz haven't fallen out ref: songwriting royalties for At Last I Am Born. :D

Seriously though the new keyboardist is just that. A keyboardist. Mike Farrell is arguably one of the most accomplished musicians Moz has ever had in his band. Certainly lacked something without him.

I, along with some others, are assuming that Mikey couldn't commit to another year of extensive touring- he has two small sons--preschool age, if I'm not mistaken. I do hope he's still a part of the team, he was excellent and the video of the most recent shows suggest that I was very lucky to see the fall tour in the US with him in the band. I'm sure Pooley is perfectly competent, but Mikey is special and added a great amount to the mix in his quiet way.

I've finally caught up with you, son. How have you been keeping? Would love to know what you consider to be an "accomplished musician" Noel Gallagher perhaps? What are your musical qualifications to validify such a claim? Can't be your singing or your dancing abilities, and to my knowledge you and that fat pygmy griff can't play an instrument.(See the judicious use of the word "fat",just came back from my slimming class, under 14 stone now so won't be long before you'll have to think of another insult for me) Oh yes I forgot your association with class scally irwin, The eric clapton of the pits. Great musician he is (honest).

Do us a favour oh gangrenous toothed one, if you must talk about "accomplished" musicians, please talk from a position of at least some knowledge.White indie music such as the (dire it has to be said) type morrissey makes has always been based on overtly simplistic devices.Ipso facto mr noel gallagher, the current so called "genius" of the ouvre cannot read (music, though if the cap fits) or play music by ear.

People who talk up the academic or musical merits of white indie guitar based music really need to pick up a book and do some research. It honestly as if James Brown hadn't existed. It's limited appeal surely is based on the concept that any idiot could pick up a guitar and smash out the latest shed seven offering. A concept I find irritating as I spent 5 years studying the piano and spend a lot of time bettering my performance, but a luddite diy concept nonetheless.

p.s. Your mutterings on the guardian website defending the indefensible comments re immigration by moz are wrong, so wrong. There might have not been many black faces in your public school, But personally I think the uk has been enriched by immigration. That doesnt make me a loony left, i just think that britian looks (and sounds) better with a bit of colour and rhythm, and id prefer to gaze at a bus full of colour than have to be subjected to a gang of ugly big chinned fucks like griff every day. Morrissey belies the fact when he opens his mouth that he doesn't represent the outsider anymore-he represents the rugger bugger that you used to despise. If you need a salient example of the type im referring to,have a look in your double bed the next time griffs smashed the granny out of you.Talking of smashing does he know you vandalized his van up all those moons ago?

Anyways im off, ill be around, btw that magic mushroom site??? tsk at your age, saxondale saxondale saxondale. And change your screenname for gods sake, last time you went to the city jimmy gilligan was on yts terms. Cricket and rugbys your game boy.

my irwin smiley,he just bladdy rawwwwkssss:guitar::guitar::guitar:
