Tomorrow (Friday) if you have absolutely nothing to do at 4pm.... you could do worse than listen to me waffling on about The Smiths / Morrissey, living in North Manchester and generally putting the (local) world to rights. I may even mention my books!;)
North Manchester FM is a community radio station running until 9th February and I am a guest on the show tomorrow between 4 - 6pm.
The presenter will be supplying the Smiths / Morrissey tunes and I've been asked to provide 5 Manc songs myself. Rather than play the predictable 'Roses, Mondays, Buzzcocks etc etc' I have chosen to play the following 5 tunes:
Northside - Shall We Take A Trip?
Cherry Ghost - Mathematics
The Chameleons - Swamp Thing
Puressence - Drop Down To Earth
Johnny Marr & The Healers - Down On The Corner
Though these may be different by tomorrow afternoon!
If you can listen, then tune in to either

right then you tosser, I was going to phone in telling them I've been listening to their station since it first started broadcasting but please tell me who's that charming man you had on betwixt 4 & 6pm, I recommend you get him & his ace choice of music on weekly, maybe even give him his own slot every day, it made driving my girlfriend home from work a pleasure & you all know what the Manc rush hour is like. Do you know where I can get hold of a copy of all his books because I couldn't write that info down whilst driving, they sound wonderful books I don't suppose you've thought about serialising them & maybe getting the man himself to read them out in a daily 1/2 hour slot on your wonderful radio station? Please can I have a t-shirt or a baseball cap?
But now I won't bother, except asking for the hat an shirt! :D

Will you also mention that Rusholme Ruffians is on `Meat Is Murder` and not `Strangeways, Here we come` like you said while sat on `the iron bridge` during `These Things Take Time` documentary in 2002

I did! It was good fun, can't believe how quick 2 hours just flew by. Sadly (and rather annoyingly for a community radio station with only a few weeks air time), the website is not up and running yet:confused:
So only those in the north Manchester area could tune in.:(

Gripper,
Clearly you are like your Grange Hill namesake in that you did not pay attention when watching it:rolleyes:
Can I suggest you watch it again and then come back on and apologise for making an incorrect post? Of course, I will be only too happy to accept your apology:)

The quote was
`Strangeways here we come, their 4th album , there IS the song Rusholme Ruffians ofcourse`!
maybe the (southpaw) Grammar could have been better
i apologise if i`m wrong

*Sighs*
Gripper,
This is why I suggested you watched it again before apologising rather than putting up what you thought I said and then adding 'apologies if I'm wrong'.
The script went like this: Sat on the bridge reeling off the Manchester related lyrics and song titles.
''There's 'Strangeways Here We come', which was the 4th album, there's the song, er, 'Rusholme Ruffians', of course, eh, the song 'Miserable Lie' contains 'What do I get for my trouble and pains, a rented room in Whalley Range'.''
There is even a slight pause for breath between the words '4th album' and 'there's the song...'
So I can catagorically state that I did not state that 'Rusholme Ruffians' was on 'Strangeways....' .:)

Gripper who'd you get your copy of the dvd off, you should get one off Grim his is crystal & you'd be able to hear exactly what JJ says & then you'd know he didn't claim Rusholme Ruffians was on Strangeways!
