Just seen the new promo video that's being sent to promote the new single...not the best I've ever seen (and no Russell Brand, I wonder why?)

Just a collection of stage-invading/hugs/performance.

Hopfully this is just an early version, with a (better?) to follow...not sure how likely that is :confused::confused:

It's not so much that I think they thought "lets update WILL NEVER MARRY" as it was they just collected together a load of recent Morrissey performances and they happened to include loads of fans embracing him.
The similarities just sprung to mind as I was watching it, WNM is one of my favourite videos.

As far as I could tell they were all recent clips (I'd say post-Quarry to be safe) but they're all certainly Modern-Moz.

humm...I LOVE Moz's stage-invading/hugs/performance! :D and since they've asked for fans to come forward and show their devotion/tatoos, etc -it makes sense. The reactions Moz gets from fans are quite touching, extreme at times, and certainly underreported - Decca Discovered this -that´s all :cool:

I mentioned this to Westie already, but there's a shot of a girl in the audience (25 sec mark) wearing a black shirt with both hands above her head and it totally looks like the infamous Leopard Print Kissy girl to me. :eek: I'm just saying this because I saw her in the queue at the Palladium shows and the face looks just like her! :eek:

Really like the video, really like the song - LOVE Morrissey's white suit and tambourine combo. I think people need to take the single for what it is - a single. It isn't one of his deepest or most accomplished, but it is fantastic as a single and much better than any other singles in the Top 40 today - although this isn't really saying much.

even a first year student of film with bare minimum knowledge of editing would be able to piece together something better than that.

first of all, they establish it as though he is singing the song during all the events...and then he just goes off sync for the rest of the song! the difference with will never marry is that (correct me if i'm wrong), there's quite a few, if any scenes, in which he is actually singing/mouthing the words. Or even if there are, the way they edited it together focuses ones attention more on the stage invaders and the relationship between the two than him singing the song. Ughhh...if you're going to have him sing the words in sync in one scene, then you HAVE to follow that pattern unless you want your video to look like absolute crap.

This was just awful....maybe they can send me the footage and i'll edit it...I'm sure a 5 year old playing in final cut pro would be more successful than this. Gross!

I guess I didn't see this at all...yes, he started off singing the first line of the song, but after that, I didn't think the video was at all trying to give the illusion at all that he was "singing" the song. His outfits change quite obviously from one shot to the next after the first line, so the off sync thing didn't even cross my mind. I like the editing, I think the first shots are great (especially the strut from backstage) and a few of the parts at the end are fantastic (like when he fake shoots himself and then you see him laying on the floor). I love how they ended it to match the music too. :o

- Editing is OK. Some of it syncs well but probably by happy accident. Would've benefitted from a few more shots of Moz actually "singing" the song.
- Video would've also benefitted from a bit of non-concert footage -- even if it was something as simple as all the fans lined up waiting to get in or after-show autographs etc. Or a Russell Brand narrative thread.
- Don't forget that only die-hards have seen "Will Never Marry," though "First of the Gang" is similar. It captures the adulation and mania. If I wasn't a Morrissey freak I'd be intrigued.
- The song is a fine opening salvo for more and better to come. Stop whingeing and support Moz and Boz!
