Horses are lovely creatures, but I don't think I can afford to have one in my life time.

Sure, even the free ones cost a bundle to feed, house and doctor but there are loads of wild horses all over the world who are losing their habitats to the encroachment of civilization. I'll provide some links later so that anyone who's interested can have a look. Wild horses should stay wild.

One of my ex-collegues is a passionate activist for retired race horses in Japan.

Yes, we have to do something about wild horses, too.

Midnight? ;)

Midnight? ;)

oooh, like Captain Midnight! (http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/2780/325pxcapmidnightiq3.jpg)

For some reason the word "midnight" reminded me of this poem:

Remember me as I was then;
Turn from me now, but always see
The laughing shadowy girl who stood
At midnight by the flowering tree,
With eyes that love had made as bright
As the trembling stars of the summer night.

Turn from me now, but always hear
The muted laughter in the dew
Of that one year of youth we had,
The only youth we ever knew—
Turn from me now, or you will see
What other years have done to me.
- Sara Teasdale

there's also that one by Dorothy Parker about never dying?

Um, yeah. See 'ya!

I had a pony. He was a little horror. Used to throw me off when he saw a pheasant flapping. Oh, the bruises!

Awww...I envy you!

My parents only allowed me to have some small birds and rabbits.

It was a miracle my father decided to have a dog from his friened.

Horse rescue links by state, here (http://horsewelfare.8k.com/rescues.html). You can adopt a horse and feed/house it for as little as $200 per month. Fringe pants and cowboy hat cost extra.

But he didn't actually die there... just set the wheels of death in motion. I wish I could relive this summer and fall over again. It was too, too fun.

HEY! I saw on Smithstorrents that somebody video'ed about the first two thirds of Waukegan and Merriillville before Charlie Brown stopped them. I will investigate more this weekend, been busy with work this week.

Oh that's right, he died in the car after leaving the hotel didn't he? The hotel figured in the story somehow. Yes, all of last year was basically the best year I ever had. ;) If I ever have another year that's half as much fun, I'll be happy.

I went & looked - it's been a long couple of days for that guy to get his videos up! (Just kidding. Whoever he is it'll be great and I'll be grateful when he does :guitar:).

You did see us in the one Merrillville Billy Budd, and the one bad Waukegan one, right? We're there. I showed the kids, and they were like, Mom, that's a video of Morrissey, we don't want to see it. And I said, "No! It's a video of ME! See?" Then they liked it.

The ones on youtube? Yeah you could tell I was singing and as I remember I couldn't decide if I thought I looked like an idiot or not in Billy Budd. :o

Not. :) Have an awesome time in London, wave hi to the Man for me... I'm sure he'll be crushed that I'm not there...

Will do. Although at this point, with all the drama and craziness that's going on with the tickets/wristbands, if at any point that week I actually find myself inside the Roundhouse with Morrissey in front of me, I'll be slightly surprised. But I'll say hi for you in the event that this actually happens. (I've called Seetickets no less than 5 times today. 5).

And since this is the horsey thread, here's a horse I used to have when he was a baby.....

As for London: the first night will be a clusterfcuk, as per usual, the rest will be fine. Arturo (or somebody) will pop their head out and check on the IRs, and some small adjustment will happen and it will all be ok. And the rest of the nights will be fine.
