I saw the Wolfmother show there last night even after reading all of the previous reviews. I went in knowing that the staff would be heavy handed and rude but the treatment I saw left me appalled. We went with a large group and were waiting outside the door for the last guy because we had his ticket. After repeatedly being told by security to go inside or "get off the property" (their words) we were escorted to the sidewalk and told we had to wait outside the property. So we did, only now security at the edge of the driveway yelled at us that we couldn't stand on a public side walk and kept threatening to call the cops. Now all through this we did not even acknowledge them, so it's not like we were arguing back and forth and causing a scene where they would need to call the cops. Finally our friend arrives and we go to go inside. You have to take everything out of your pocket to get frisked (standard) but if you have anything other than a wallet, cell phone and keys they make you throw it away or they won't let you in. No gums, chapstick, etc. The frisker even gave me a hardy "sack tack" to make sure they were mine. One of the girls even had the woman stick her hand up underneath her bra. So we finally make it inside and its chaos. While I applaud their effort to sell as much alcohol as possible by putting a bar every 6 feet, it makes it nearly impossible to get through, and this wasn't even a sold out show. The band started up and it was immediately obvious the sound system was sub-par to say the least. Luckily Wolfmother has a crunchy sound; otherwise it would have been awful. The show was good but the second it ended all the doors flew open and security started pushing the crowd out. The guitar sustain was still ringing when shouts of "You can't stay here" sounded. They don't seem to realize we are paying customers and not the enemy. Worst music club I've ever been to. If you don't like concert goers, get out of the concert business. Never again!

Pros: Good Bands
Cons: Ghestapo-like Security, Overpriced Drinks, Terrible Sound Sysyem, $20 Parking"

It's why I am going to go to this one by myself and drift away from the crowd towards the back. At the age of 32 I am there for the music (Not to sound like some hippy snooty holier than thou) I do not heal as quickly as I did at 20. Anyone around my age knows what I mean... you no longer bounce on concrete... lol ....

Anyway... I do not need to go on stage... I do not need to touch a sweaty mans hand as he tries to sing... I do not need to be in pits... To those that want to... I applaud your efforts.

Everyone has to remember one thing though. If they do not allow it... do not bring it. I always laugh at people on line arguing that they paid for a ticket and they are not getting rid of the camera that they found on them. Well it said ... do not bring a camera...

Risk v Reward but don't complain if you get caught.

crap. so much for my "camera in bra" trick

Or anywhere else on our person for that matter! It's seems utterly ridiculous that they are that invasive with the search! I mean chill out with the "touche" part of the search....I'm sorry but that is just WRONG! And intrusive, for that woman to have to put her hand underneath her bra.....just to prove nothing was being hidden to sneak in? Goodness, so ridiculous. They may as well make you strip down so that can be extra sure! Because...OOOO! There may be a camera on you....big whoop! Sorry this really irritates me... But whatever, that's the price some may have to pay.....

Guess I'll see what it is like for the first few nights, then try the old "camera down in my pants" trick.

I hope it works! Are you going every night? I'm sure I can devise a plan for this camera taking business!!! It's a violation to touch anything they are not suppose to!

I'll be there from the 5th onwards.

crap me tooo(you'll see why I say that)!! That's my first concert, then my second will the last show, the 13th.....I was gonna ask you to tell me if trying to take your camera in worked...so I'd know if there was any chance in heck of me being able to take it in.....oh well....we'll just have to wait and see I guess!

Put it in a ziploc baggie, put on two pairs of undies, and stick it right where they don't dare touch. They are not going to put their hand right on your &*%^$#.

Of course, I have a really small camera: Canon SD1000 and it's smaller than a deck of cards.

It really sucks, because I'd like to take some touristy shots while I'm there. Oh well, I have 7 chances. I just would prefer to not have it taken away. I don't think I'll be able to get anything like this again:

Great idea! I have a Canon SD750 and will have plastic baggies because of the strange airline restrictions.

Hey I was actually looking at that exact camera to buy....how do you like it?? I loved the fact that it is extremely small.....my biggest importance in the camera I want to buy.

Yes, I do love it! I usually shoot with a digital SLR, but bought this tiny one for my trip to Vegas to see Moz, because I didn't want to carry my big camera around. It takes great photos, movies, and you can bootleg a show with it to boot... I bought a 2GB card for it so I have lots of room.

Did you see those shots I got at the Knoxville show? Got those with the little camera.

Excellent then!! It's confirmed, I have made my choice! And I am sooooo excited! I've waited forever to get the one I want, and now have found the perfect one....:D Thank you for your opinion on it! And an opinion I know is true and that I feel I can trust as well....:)

I will have just as great shots of Moz as you did....hopefully if and I will get it in! They won't try to confiscate it, I'll fight 'em for it....jeez, it's not like I'm gonna try to make money offa them!

Thank you again!

This might work for the Hammerstein, but apparently, security at the Palladium is much more aggressive, and they will feel up your boobies and/or testicles if they suspect you of shenanigans...or if they are particularly lewd and corrupt.

Oddly, I've managed to smuggle in audio recorders to the Palladium and to Bridges Auditorium (Claremont where Moz did The QUeen Is Dead back in '97). I think I just look so boring and unassuming that nobody ever looks at me twice. I need advice ;).

One time I even set off the metal detector frame, but they still let me pass without further inspection. I think this was at the Roseland in Portland, OR.

But wearing two pairs of underpants is still a good idea. You might wet yourself when Moz hits the stage! :p

Well... I meant so you could slip the camera inside the outer pair and it wouldn't fall out, but see, there's another good reason!

Seriously, have a backup plan for going back to the car, just in case. Sounds like they are royal asses at that venue. In Vegas in June, it turned out they let people bring in any cameras they wanted. And I'd left my SLR at home in Chicago!

Aside from the smuggling aspect , wouldn't wearing any undergarments allow a more unrestricted flow ?
