Trying to avoid conversing with the in-laws.

Just go to the bathroom... then stay there. Spray large quantities of air freshener no matter if anything comes out or not. Rub a bit of warm water on your hands and apply to face to give that "look". Emerge 30 minutes later and say you are sorry but you do not think you are feeling well. Then go home.

Tried that. In fact, I think I've tried every tactic in the book. I don't think I can escape it this time. I've been told to close the laptop and join the conversation. :(

The college I'm going to attend has online registration, you can even pay online with a credit card. You do actually have to go to classes, though.

Anyway, I'm waiting to hear back from an advisor first.

I do know you mean, you'd never believe the stuff I avoid doing because I don't like talking on the phone. I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a shard of a shattered Morrissey CD than make a dentist appointment. I have a phone phobia. I also rarely answer the phone unless I recognize the number.

I did quite well on the phone with the lady at the county Assessor's office this morning, though. Maybe the fact that my property tax rebate rides on it had something to do with it.

Well, when they were born from the Trade Unions they were. The transformation to New labour really started taking place about 1992/93. But up until that point they were still fairly radical. Look for changes to Clause 4 and the change in policy towards Nuclear Disarmament. The reforms really started when Kinnock became leader and he brought about the expulsion of the Militant Tendency.

i couldve told you that. mixing is BAD. i always try to stick to one thing. that one thing is usually either lots of vodka. or lots of wine. if i switch off and mix wine and vodka i turn into a complete psychopath and have the worst hangover in the morning.

I did have a good time, thanks. I happened to be looking at her Myspace to see when her new album would be out, and noticed a listing for Indy. She was great, but it was a short show. No longer than I've seen her before. I think she played only one song that was new to me. The crowd was not too large but was very appreciative.

Why are there now things to do in Indy? When I lived there, there was sneaking down to Mass Ave. to go to Metro, and an occasional all-ages show, and that's it. I had a fake ID and everything, and there was never anywhere to use it. Oh, I forgot, and you might find this funny, that I was able to use my fake ID (my name was Kim) to get into Kip's Pub on Allisonville Rd. with my restaurant coworkers.

I've spent the day taking down Christmas decorations too. Here's a tip: if part of one strand of lights on your pre-lit tree goes out, seriously consider throwing the whole damn tree in the garbage. :tears: I spent 2 hours this morning pulling the lights off the entire middle section of our tree and my hands and arms were bleeding by the time I was done. If our tree wasn't so tall and nice and expensive to replace there's no way it would have been worth the pain, but I kept telling myself it was like I was getting paid $100 an hour to do this job b/c that's how much it would cost to go buy it again.

My pre-lit tree is 7 yrs old and the bottom half doesn't light up since our cat used to hang on the bottom branches years ago. We use an extra string to light the bottom, using the cord to put the cat-bent branches back into place. Perhaps next year we'll spring for a new one.

We used an extra strand of lights to light the burned out section, but I didn't want to leave it like that b/c it looked weird having all those non-functioning lights on the tree (I think it wouldn't have been as noticeable if it were on the bottom but it was right in the middle). The top & bottom are fine so far. Thankfully we've got a bunch of matching strands of lights from when we got real trees, before we gave up on having real trees b/c our cats thought they were scratching posts/cat furniture.

Why is your tree making you bleed? :eek:From two hours of getting scratched by the fake needles. :(

That happened to my pre-lit tree...we replaced the bulb that was either burnt out or missing and the whole strand started working again....have you tried that?Yeah, and it didn't work. No matter what I did that strand wouldn't light again. It made me think that whole section had a short in it or something, b/c a bunch of the bulbs were kind of blackened on the inside. I figured it was safer to just get rid of the whole thing.

Mentally preparing for a 20min bike ride tonight (and 20 mins back home!).
It's so cold that it will probably take longer to defrost my car so I boldly decided to ride my bicycle instead.
It's -10C/14F right now...

Typing my daughter's rough draft for her young author's project titled, "The Princess and the Rock Star" :o :p

She was really frustrated typing it and I just wanted her to go to bed... it was taking too long. Remember that skit on SNL, Jimmy Fallon as the Help Desk guy... "Move!" *takes over the keyboard" :D
