Watched the BBC2 prog the other night and I must say I was a little bit dissappointed with it. Sure it was great to see a prog about the band on mainstream TV and it was well signalled. The subtitle "The Rise and Fall of the Smiths" seemed to sum it up. The programme really concentrated on the formation of the band and the subsequent squabbles that led to the split. Unfortunately, it left a huge gaping hole in the middle about the whole success of the band!!! It was also interesting that Morrissey refused to contribute to the show. What was informative is the lasting bitterness felt by Mike Joyce over the royalty issue and also what a difficult person Morrissey was to work with. Examples of this cited was on one occasion the entire entourage arrived at the airport at the start of the 1986 European Tour when Morrissey decided on the spur of the moment not to go. Just like that.
Another quote from Johnny Marr was that if Morrissey didn't get out of bed, no work was done that day. Apparently this happened quite frequently.

It was also intersting to see how Marr, Rourke and Joyce have aged over the past ten years...
