Funny man! :)
I only have 2 of them and I am not planning to buy anymore stuff for a while...so you can sleep easy.;)
Joking aside, I only bought Interesting Drug and Palare recently.
Paid less than £10 for each one if I remember correctly, are they really that rare?

Hi Dave,
There are 2 different UK releases of this DVD.
The one in the standard case is the original 1992 release, the one in the jewel case is a re-release. I don't know when exactly it was re-released but I believe it was only available in that packaging for a relatively short time.
Is it really that rare? I don't think so...paid £7 inc postage for it.

Yeah, it's the Rough Trade version. The Rhino edition doesn't come in a slim jewel case.
$23 is a great deal. I think the cheapest I've seen was $25, but from what I've seen, it usually goes for $35.

If you are talking about the Complete Picture DVD, then I think this is the one the IR bought for £7 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SMITHS-COMPLETE-PICTURE-DVD-VERY-RARE-/280595533200?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item4154cc0d90
I know that many collectors want mint copies of everything, but see the description:
DVD OF THE SMITHS, ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE AND ENTERTAINING BANDS IN HISTORY.
THE SMITHS ARE COMING BACK SO GET THIS DVD NOW BEFORE.
YOU CAN USE THIS DVD TO STUDY HOW THE MAGNIFICENT JOHNNY MARR WORKS HIS MAGIC ON THE GUITAR. THAT GUY IS A PHENOMENON.
WELL PLAYED AND WITH A FEW SURFACE MARKS, THIS DVD PLAYS FINE AND WILL PROVIDE HOURS OF ENJOYMENT TO ITS NEW OWNER.
SEE THE SMITHS VIDEOS FROM ALL THEIR GREATEST HITS
I love the fact that the seller has played the DVD and played it lots of times. He's obviously still a huge fan of the band.
Whilst we all love finding 20 year old mint records - it saddens me when they are described as 'unplayed' as if that is a badge of honour. Like someone who owns loads of books but never reads them.

Dave,
I believe Vivabob and Roky were discussing the Rough Trade Barbarism CD...the Complete Picture DVD was only released by WEA in the UK.
The disc itself has a few scratches on it (although they do not affect play), however I didn't buy for the disc as I already own several copies of these videos.
I bought it purely for the jewel case and slightly alternate artwork, both in great condition!
Cheers,
I.R.

This is not my latest buy, however I was looking through a box of old magazine cuttings, etc and found this Brazilian publication by Somtres.
It dates back to 1985, following the release of Meat Is Murder, and it contains a Smiths biography/discography written in Portuguese which folds out as a huge poster.
It really brought back some great memories as this poster used to grace my bedroom wall when I was a teenager... (many, many moons ago!)
Just wondering whether anybody else has ever seen it or own a copy.
Perhaps one of our Brazilian friends... Flax? Raphael?
Cheers,

I was walking around the streets and just bought this Viva Hate EMI100 Brazilian issue.
According to Passions, my copy is just a reissue from the original release, because it has no booklet.
The cd was slipped into a cardboard box with a thick EMI booklet. In January 1998 (and later in 2002), the album was reissued again, this time without the box and booklet, but with same catalogue number.

which said "Great versions of these songs." Are they alternative versions, like the recent "unreleased" bootleg, or are they just Peel / Jensen sessions?
A Google search shows some discussion as to whether this release is bootleg or official http://post2peer.com/en/if-it-looks-like-a-boot-and-smells-like-a-boot-is-it-still-a-boot-2010-12-28.html

Might, might not...I have #30 of 100(colored vinyl). Have no idea what color it is, but I don't *think* I'm going to open it.
Good news though, myself and one other person have the lowest #'s in the place I got them from.
Even better news: I am willing to trade MY copy, so send me some offers if you want?(not looking for easily obtainable Smiths/Morrissey stuff, hard to find/OOP/rare stuff gets this). That way, I dont get offers for US pressings, I dont need/want.

This is a bootleg. It's not worth more sealed than opened. I actually think it'll never be worth more than what you paid for it now. Its interest lies in the content, not the packaging. Once the content leaks, the value drops (see Revelation, etc).

Of course it wasn't (Stephane wasn't saying that), and nor is it valuable. Stephane is saying that Biggoof009 might as well open and play the record and find out what's on it, as keeping it in its wrapping won't do much to its long term value.

Yeah, kinda figured I'd have to eventually open it. Let me rephrase that, Not looking for US copies of stuff for it, should anyone be interested in a trade. But, something nice, maybe rare or OOP or something, would definitely interest me. Im not trying to get a kings ransom for it, but im also not going to give it away. I paid in the $40 range for it, not too much to ask for something worth at least that in return? Some completist here, would be interested in it Im sure, esp. w/it being colored vinyl, and numbered to 100?
I guess it's "worth", is what someone's willing to pay for it, hence the "TP". Personally, I dont see how/why it shouldve sold for that. Good for the seller i guess.
I will open it, but i dont have a record player @ the moment, so i cant play it. Ill let you all know what color it is.

Personally, I think they're all much of a muchness...except...the version of London, the Peel Session version, is far superior to the recorded version - it squeals with attitude.

Yeah, those things are hard to get man, regardless of what's said here about them. I spoke to the guy where I bought it, and he said they won't be getting anymore in, and that they were sent 4 copies of the numbered/colored vinyl, and like 5 copies of the regular vinyl, and some other places, didnt get any. Still pretty cool item to have IMO.

What you have is an original French pressing on Rough Trade / Virgin. The one from Vulgar Picture is not French, it's the WEA pan-European edition. The French number you see on the back is a price code (you know, like you have on the back of books). All information at the collectors appendix for Meat Is Murder at "Passions Just Like Mine".
There are a few items at Vulgar Picture that are mis-identified and this is one of them. I told Flax some time ago, but I think he hasn't made the corrections yet because he is too busy with his new site "Illness As Art".

I checked it out at Passions and I was curious to understand what's that on Vulgar Picture. After writing here the number I noticed it was a price code and not catalog number.

This is what I bought yesterday. It's a hardback inside a hard slip-case. It was sealed when I bought it, then I slit open the plastic to slip out the book, to see if there was indeed a signed photograph inside. There wasn't. Also, as you can see, it is not numbered either. The back of the slipcase, on top of the plastic seal, has a small piece of sellotape on it, otherwise, it's unscathed. The book is about the size (thickness) of those kid's annuals you get. Does anyone else have one like this?

Hi Raphael,
No, your's is a French release for the French market on the Virgin label. Mine was manufactured in France but for the UK market on the Rough Trade label. This was because at the time of release, the UK didn't have the capability to produce enough cds. I'm expecting a copy in the post that was manufactured in Japan for the UK market for exactly the same reason.

This arrived in the post and unfortunately it appears to be missing part of the disc 2 inlay. Certainly when I compare it to the one on Flax's excellent web page. It looks like some one has removed the bottom half of the inlay for whatever reason. I am not amused, but as it only cost me £37 and appears to be a genuine copy, watermarked, two extra tracks, numbered (#37) and named recipient etc, I shall probably keep it and look to replace it with a better copy. Unless some one else's copy is also like mine?

Hi Roky,
Yes, it is the 2 track German Alma Matters in card sleeve.
I had also been looking for this one for a year or two and had never seen one for sale before.
I found it on ebay.co.uk, from a seller in Finland. I'm pretty sure he is a serious collector and possibly also a frequent Solo visitor.
I made him an offer of £28 inc postage to the UK, which he thankfully accepted.
Really pleased with this item, I firmly believe this cd should be in the top 50 Moz collectibles, possibly amongst the top 20 even.
Thank you for the nice comments by the way mate, you are not short of the odd wonderful item yourself though. ;)

Hi Everyday,
The 'buy it now' price was reduced from £40 to £35.
I had an offer of £25 turned down when it was still listed at £40, then when the 'buy it now' price was reduced to £35 I offered £28 and the offer was accepted. A really good buy in my opinion. :D

Bleeker Street Records is the closest I've ever seen to a decent collection of Smiths 12 Inch singles. They were all quite pricey around $50 a pop.

The wallet is great except that the leather inside is so thick that it bends my cards, and if I were to sit on them they'd most likely crack. Looks like this won't get any use. Ordered form the UK, mailed from Mexico, took close to a month to get here.

I forget, isn't there one that has three or four tracks with a different, kinda golden cover that has a small picture of "You Are The Quarry" on it?

I have a set of three that look exactly like that. Nice :thumb:
From Passions:
Finally the other promo (scan needed) was produced in very limited numbers. It features the four songs appearing on the different formats listed above, and is numbered ATKPX008X. The cd has a white label with text, and the insert shows a closeup of the wooden wall behind Morrissey, with credits and a small image of the artwork from the "You Are The Quarry" album.
From this, it sounds like it looks like the front of the fourth promo looks like the back of the first promo http://www.vulgarpicture.com/images/morrissey/hi/2004/hi_2004_letmekissyoucd_promo_2.jpg or the back of the actual CD http://www.vulgarpicture.com/images/morrissey/hi/2004/hi_2004_letmekissyoucd1_2.jpg
But Mikael posted last year (http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showpost.php?p=1318358&postcount=6) that the 4 track has the same artwork as the three track (with the extra track added)

Well, the hunt starts for that one now.
If anyone has the three or four track promo as discussed above they would like to sell, or know where one is, please PM me. :thumb:

WEA TOP HITS November 1992 Issue. Japanese Rare Promo-only 16-track CD. Featuring The Boy With The Thorn in His Side.
It says on the track listing that the track is taken from WMC5-541 which is the Japanese edition of Best II
Here is what Passions says about Best I (http://www.passionsjustlikemine.com/disc/best1.htm)
Japan:
A various artists promo cd titled "WEA Top Hits" featuring "This Charming Man" was dispatched to radio in order to promote this release as well as recent releases by other artists'.
Presumably this CD belongs in the entry for Best II.

Hi Stoned, was that the one from ebay? I guess you made them an offer they were happy to accept :D

Cool WEA cd by the way. I saw one, a few years back @ Amoeba. I went to look @ something else, came back to get it(as I was about to leave), and it was gone. Ironically, the guy right in front of me had it in his hand.......

Mikael, I think you can unseal it to find out. I'd be very surprised this was sealed at the source. It was probably sealed by the person who sold it to you, or some other inbetweener.
Yes it does look like a publishing rights cd.

Smiths début white label promo with a truly disappointing single sided promo sheet
Maladjusted re-issue promo CD
...and I bought a copy of 'Film and Filming' hoping to find the original photo for "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" but bought the wrong edition - D'oh! - but still, I suspect Moz used to subscribe to this magazine, articles/photos on Delon, Visconti, Taste of Honey and Billie Whitelaw - for a nostalgic Smiths obsessive with some time on their hands it's well worth buying a copy :) I've since ordered the right edition...

Hi Raphael,
It has the same 24 tracks but across 2 discs, 12 tracks on each disc.
It comes in a 'fat' double cd jewel case.
Number 34 in the top 100 Smiths collectibles according to RC.
Cheers,

I was tingling with excitement when the post arrived yesterday...I posted this info last night but by this morning was gone... so here's another attempt... Films and Filming from Feb 1965

It is the original source for the sleeve of That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore... so flicking through to the middle pages... wow... even if slightly disappointed to find a rusty staple in the middle of the image
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_OvBaDWv6lsg/TUcpYJSSMUI/AAAAAAAAAR8/K80zY_wdSkQ/s512/film%20and%20filming%20Enchanted%20Desna.JPG
Happy bunny.
But wait, what's that, bloody hell, it's the alternate shot for The Queen Is Dead cover - Alain Delon on Page 15.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_OvBaDWv6lsg/TUh90K6W9CI/AAAAAAAAASo/PqHkSTGeuoY/s512/film%20and%20filming%20Delon%20alternative2.JPG
I might be jumping to conclusions, but either Morrissey had a subscription to Films and Filming in 1965 or someone at Rough Trade had some old magazines lying around that Morrissey saw and was inspired...
And only £3.99 - it is one of the most exciting Smiths / Morrissey items I've bought in a long time.

Your Japanese Suedehead looks a really nice copy, I paid quite a lot for my copy but it was mint where as most you see have damaged sheets or are written on. I thought I had the only nice copy, but you've proved me wrong :p
£20 is a good price for the Maladjusted promo, I paid £40 for mine :(
