View Full Version : Obsessive compulsive thread moving

From a few days ago till today I've started to see lots, byt lots of threads moved... An hour ago more than half of the threads in the 1st page of the General Discussion were moved!! And the site looked really ackward and ugly.

Since this rarely happened weeks ago and the moved threads are put like new posts for really old original ones, with messages months old, it's evident that new moderator Kewpie is behind this.

She's the only one in this whole site who gets mad and crazy about people starting new threads with subjects that were posted before and the only one who cares about it and the only who's always correcting people in that sense...

I think it's ok to move threads when are really off topic or off section, but to have the whole site with half of the threads moved because they were old threads with related topics it's just obsessive-compulsive, maniac and, most important, it looks aesthetically ugly for the site.

Oh my god, it's Robby!

Since the US tour is announced we are getting many new members who are not familiar with the forums and some of the members posting threads wrong forums.

It is necessary to move threads where they should be.

Oh my god, it's Robby!

still, i laughed @ my joke
but speaking of what annoys me about Kewpie
she is always moving things to the OT but never out of them
(that i am aware of)
this is wrong, but just the kind of double standard i have come to expect from
our benevolent moderators

Love the parking spaces in that model. "I like this model. We'll show the investors, but later. First-- man, we've got to show them our plan for the parking spaces".

(Of course, you understand the reason for the parking spaces being included. Line up a dozen vintage Chevys, get some cans of car wax, and you've added the last, crucial part of an impressive open-air karate dojo...)

i started a similar thread and it was moved to the off-topic quickly.

http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=70213

i also had an anti-'kewpie as moderator' campaign going but the only vocal supporter i got was someone who got banned eventually, and a few minor players

...and i think there may be a target on my back, i'm already waiting for one infraction from davidt to expire, something i didn't deserve (it was entrapment I tell ya!!). so watch out, davidt supports insane anal moderators...you may get a target on your back.

i'm telling you this because i want you to know i am on your side. there is a secret revolutionary movement going on. we meet every wednesday at the Knights of Columbus hall on McDougal Street at 8pm. bring punch and/or cookies and be there on time!!!...bingo starts a 9pm and we have to be out of there by then.

Well, Wink Wink, I couldn't agree more with you and Robby, the only difference is I think that the one with the OCD is Kewpie... Otherwise it's impossible to explain her continous behavior, besides the fact of not having a life of her own... I could almost affirm that she begged David T to be a site moderator and maybe she's getting paid for it... That's the only logical sane explanation I can find for such repressive, obsessive, compulsive, maniac behavior.

I agree about the ugly aesthetics of having threads moved, it hurts my eyes. Also I think that even though some have read similar threads, often they are not 'exactly' the same and should remain.

Did someone actually tell you this or are you just making things up? There is no pay involved and I asked voluntarily asked Kewpie about moderating without any solicitation whatsoever.

I started a thread recently asking "if The Smiths were to reunite on stage but could only play one song what would you like to hear?"

My thread was MOVED and attached to a thread which asked "If The Smiths were to reform do you think they would do a big stadium tour like The police?"

I understand that repetition can be tiresome and that some threads are moved as they have been placed in the wrong section in error...but I don't understand the action in this case...I was a bit

seriously, shpuld I splain it all to you? something apparently happened some while back between some people. so now, even though one person might have had a legitimate gripe at the time, (and possibly still does, how would I know?) but then it turns into this thread about moving threads.

maybe it was popular or maybe not, but it turned into a thing where ugly things were said and that is only allowed when I talk about people. :D so stop it already, quit pretending that the site being ugly is your main beef, because it is some other thing. None of my business, really though.

Yes Robby, but most of them just live and let live... They just do or say something against someone or move threads when the situation really deserves an action, like unbearable trolls or some REAL misplaced new thread... But what Kewpie does is annoying half of the forum!! The aesthetical problem is just a side effect, but the main problem is that Kewpie has the quite special ability to annoy people with her bossy, obsessive behaviour towards anyone who says or start something she doesn't like or agree with... And that started much before she became a mod.

Example: I've never seen Uncleskinny or Sphinx (or the rest of the mods) bossing or scolding anyone for anything said... Much less saying "hey, that was already discussed in this thread, so don't start this new one: link to the old thread"... I mean... We are here to chat and have fun and not to live correcting or bossing people... The only consequence of Kewpie's obsessive maniac desire to keep everything in order and discipline anyone who falls in some forum "misdemeanor" , is that people won't want to post here anymore or start new threads because thanks to her ways, this is not a nice or relaxed place to express themselves anymore.

And Davidt... I was just being ironical in my previous post. Although that was what many thought anyway.

I have this quite simple and logical idea: Why don't they erase INACTIVE threads that are 6 months old or more? That would be a very useful measure... if you make a search here you will find threads from 2004 or older!!! And I don't think anyone is gonna "resurrect" them, so just erase them all and the problem will be solved... Well... I hope they can be erased.

What an idot to say erase the old threads of the forums!!!

The one of the important purposes of the site is the archives of the last 10 years of The Smiths and Morrissey related topics discussed by various peoples all over the world.

There is no other site which maintains such archives.

Your children and grandchildren will be extreamly embarssed to find your posts from the archives.

i don't think erasing threads is a good idea...there are threads that pop up and last for months...even years...i don't see Frink thread for example losing momentum. To have it canceled after 6 months is not good.

The solution is to have Kewpie step down as moderator. I can only assume Davidt invited her to be a moderator after she annoyed him about repeat threads and lack of traffic control by the other moderators. I don't blame davidt for giving in to Kewpie's OCD demands, but it is hurting the forum.

Davidt needs to take away moderator privileges from Kewpie. However, since he may not want to offend and hurt people's feelings, it's best if Kewpie just simply stepped down.

There's more to life than moderating Morrissey-solo you know ...

And, dear Wink Wink... I was just talking (and I wrote it on capital letters in the post) about INACTIVE threads... Of course that old threads that have activity mustn't be erased, it has no sense, but those that have few posts and lasted nothing, could be perfectly erased I guess...

And I'm glad WW that you exposed something pretty strong: Kewpie's resignation... I thought it, but since you said it first it's good for davidt to know that I'm not the only one who thinks and feels the same. Indeed, I do think that davidt offered her the mod position RIGHT BECAUSE OF her OCD NATURAL behaviour, but I think that things have gone too far and if Kewpie has two fingers of forehead, she must resign her moderator rights NOW... Otherwise the riot and mutiny will be only a matter of time in this forum.

You'll notice that although many thread merges are entirely justifiable, too many are not--and I think it's clear that the moderator who's responsible for them doesn't even read the threads being merged terribly closely.

i just have a problem with people who don't make cohesive sentences moving other people's threads around that they probably didn't even read in the first place. I don't think someone has the right to muck with threads when they sometimes can't get their own point across due to language deficiencies...and then said certain someones gets pissed at people because they don't get something they said, and thinks it was an insult when it really wasn't at all *cough*, and when they find out it wasn't an insult, they just ignore the whole situation and don't apologize *cough cough cough*

I think moderating can be a tough job sometimes, also I suppose what one person would leave in one section someone else would not. There is always going to be critisism you only have to look at some of the threads here on the feeback, we do not always get it right but I hope that people can just chill and enjoy the forum and get on is that too much to ask? ;)

Anyone notice that if certain people don't like you, your stuff gets messed around with more?

I had a perfectly good thread and it was morphed with some other one that didn't match at all except that it was about the same "star". If that was the qualifier to move threads, then there'd be just one HUGE thread in General discussion, since all threads are about Morrissey.

Then I started my protest thread and it was moved to site feedback. the very basis of the thread was to vent, not to offer feedback. I'm pretty sure my feedback about inaccurate thread moving doesn't matter, since a dozen other people have already brought this problem to the forefront but it still continues to go on.

I guess I should just be happy that I don't feel the need to attempt to annoy people I don't like with my faux power via zeroes and ones. I have real life people I can bother.

I kinda thought so as well. It was ironic, to say the least.

as i told kilt uncle in another thread, she justified my accusations. I could not be more pleased with the results. Even if no one else noticed, but of course several of us have. I enjoy it when passive aggressive people attempt to push someone and end up looking unintelligent.

I'll use any excuse to post a Python clip. Good thing it was actually relevant to the subject. :D

Anyone notice that if certain people don't like you, your stuff gets messed around with more?

I had a perfectly good thread and it was morphed with some other one that didn't match at all except that it was about the same "star".....

Then I started my protest thread and it was moved to site feedback. the very basis of the thread was to vent, not to offer feedback. I'm pretty sure my feedback about inaccurate thread moving doesn't matter, since a dozen other people have already brought this problem to the forefront but it still continues to go on.

Sorry your threads are being morphed and moved bogs :(.
I completely understand your frustration, and your need to VENT.....
However, keep in mind that many people here have you on "ignore" anyway. ;)

(I hope you know I'm just jokin' :D )
