If you don't mind me asking, how well did you do?
Also, which set text are people studying for English Literature? I'm doing 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings' by Maya Angelou and for a play I'm studying Arthur Miller's 'A View From The Bridge'...oh how fun...NOT!

Ahh GCSEs. They may seem like the worst things in the world now, but you'll look back on them in a few years and realise how easy they were (god that's patronising!). I was really good in school, but going to college ruined me. I turned really lazy and complacent and now I'm at uni, I'm even worse!

LOL Good Point. I'm going to really try and start tomorrow doing like 2-3 hours when I get back from school and then allow myself time on here before shower+bed. However, that is easier said than done, have you started revising yet...are you going to?
Is there any advice people can offer as to how to cope with exam stress? I had my first stress dream last night in which I opened my Physics paper and couldn't do any of the questions and so I wrote the lyrics to Handsome Devil in my answer booklet and then kept thinking about the line "I think I can help you get through your exams", dear god I hope I survive mine. Love 'n' Stuff PTxx.

Each person deals with exam stress differently. Personally I have never really got stressed about exams, i don't actually mind them that much. GCSEs are quite bad as you have so many different subjects, its good when you get to A level and you only have 3 or 4 subjects. Me and Lilybett were drunk for one of our A level Sociology papers, as it was my birthday and we decided to drink wine in the morning, and we both did really well! The biggest exam stress I had was last year when I was in halls and i had an exam at 9.30 and my flatmates kept me up til 5am and I slept in until 9.25 and had to run down to uni in my pyjamas and luckily they still let me in! I don't have any more exams at university, but I actually prefer them to doing coursework!

I don't mean to sound patronising but SATs are the biggest waste of tim I have ever encountered. I hope your not worrying about them as they don;t actually count towards anything and it isn't as though Universities look at SATs results. Do you still only do SATs in Maths, English, Science? Anyway good luck, do your best and really don't worry, Love 'n' Stuff PTxx.

I don't think I will be drunk for any of my GCSEs but I can't promise anything in North Leeds, I reckon I shall survive and at A-Level I am studying English Literature, English Language, Media (as I am amazing) and History. I hop to come away at the end of year 13 with AAA in English Lit., English Lang., History as I will drop Media. By the way Sister Steve which university are you at?

I took a bit of speed before my english lit GCSE, it really helped cos you have to write so much in a short space of time! I'm not recommending that though!
I did English language, Sociology, German and History at AS level and then dropped history. History was a bit boring and I hated English Language. I think that was down to the teachers though, who were shit! It was a big shock going to college because I got As in English and History at GCSE but found I wasn't so good at them at AS and ended up with Cs! German and Sociology were both brilliant, but they were probably down to the teachers too and my hilarious class mate, Lilybett!
I'm at Manchester Uni btw.

What is Manchster Uni like?, I would love to go there....I think, partly because I love Manchester, it ain't far from home plus it seems pretty successful as a Uni, can you tell me about it? do you know what the english courses are like?

I don't know what the English department is like, but my department (Sociology) is really good. I highly recommend Manchester, brilliant city especially if you are a student, great uni and yeah, not too far away from Yorkshire!

Oh don't worry, I know they're a waste of time :D Yes, they're only in maths, english and science, I'm predicted 7s in the last 2 (ooh, the thrills) and a 6 in maths (I'm a genius. :p )

I'm doing the Finnish matriculation examinations. They're a bit like your GCSEs. The difference is, we're doing them now, in spring, so these are nervous times, I assure you... After doing the exams, our teachers will correct them and then all the exams will be sent to some board who will correct them again.
Yesterday I had the English exam and it was pretty hard... But my Finnish exam went very well, my teacher told me that she would give me an E which is the same as your A-:D. I did the exam also in history (it was kinda horrible...) and now I've got only one left:D which is Russian, my weakest subject:(
I already did the exams in Swedish and in German last autumn and they went okay. My grades were M from Swedish (same as your B) and C from German (same as your C:rolleyes: )
Good luck to you all!
