Mike, there must be a forum somewhere on the internet where you can go and insult Americans, go there, you'd probably enjoy it far more. I'm very much a midwestern American, and i really do love the music. I was first drawn to the Smiths because their sound was so unlike anything else that I'd ever heard before. And the lyrics are truthful, witty, funny, self-depracating, and everything else that I'd never found in an artist before hearing "This Charming Man" for the first time.

Not to mention that American music outright sucks. Almost entirely. :) REM was good, but there is little else.
