I went there once on a smiths night, it was full of slightly over weight guys in their late 30's / 40's who just looked like right sad old gits . it also smelt a bit, sort of like old peoples bedsits.

People were so drunk it was just horrible, (drunk in a nasty way) and it was just embarrassing when the old guys there were dancing pretending they were 18 again.

Speaking as a slightly over weight bloke in my 40's, what would you rather I do? Stay in at night and watch TV or a video? Spend the night in Brannaghans or The Ritz? I make no apologies for being slightly over weight (how old are you and how much do you weigh now?) nor in my 40's (it will happen to you one day hopefully). I may look like a sad git, but i am having the time of my life dancing with friends of all ages (that is 18 to just over 60 - yes 60!) to the best music ever made. I dont pretend to be 18, yes wish i was, but there is no pretence, I am just happily dancing the night away. By the way, people at Brannaghans and The Ritz are equally drunk in a horrible way but i suppose that is ok as those places are were the 30/40 somethings are meant to be, eh?

Maybe. I often say/do things which aren't great ideas. But I figured banning 'Lilybett' from the night won't get him far ;) Maybe we will meet and fall in love on the night. I got off with a lad in a club last night who started off calling me a wanker (imagine). (I was just expressing concern as he had a broken leg and we were at a foam party.)

You get a really good mix of people at the S&G which is why I like it. There are always people there who you look at and think 'they're the last person I'd have down as a smiths fan' but they know every song. They play about 50/50 smiths to morrissey solo, with two or three different songs later on, it's usually related stuff like sandie shaw.
