It's bizarre and deranged on every level. Abduction, rape, incest...what didn't go on in that cellar? The thing I find most odd is that the sick guy's wife never realised what was going on in her own house...after 24 years!? Come on. She was probably more complicit than we are being told.

I'm listening to the Garden State Soundtrack right now to the song "Caring is Creepy" by the Shins. I know the Shins are hot shit now and everyone loves them etc. However the coupld songs they have on this soundtrack are all I really know of the Shins. On this song in particular the vocals sound VERY similar to that of Sunny Day Real Estate and/or The Fire Theft.

Does the Shins' vocalist always sound like this or is a rare occurance? Does anyone else hear this similarity? Please discuss...


I love the Shins –Wincing the Night Away is a great album (as is Garden State). James Mercer always sounds like that –which is fine by me. I like the Decemberists too –their sounds are similar but different enough. The Shins are “otherworldly” to me. I dig ‘em. :cool:

how soon is now? starts playing. i look at my laptop and see that it wasn't coming from there. the panned the camera over the SUN after i waited to see if there would ever be lyrics or just music...

well when ABC used to have golf coverage,when they would do a fly over the hole to show it,they would often play Oscillate Wildly

I have also noticed CBS golf love playing New Order songs,especially tracks off their last studio album...

Its shocking how that could have been going on for so long isn't it? And with apparently noone else knowing (I personally have suspicions about his wife).
And how the poor children saw that as normality...they had known no different... how can they ever deal with 'normal' life.
And if the daughter who was born down there (is she 19 now)...if she hadn't gotten ill, and been taken to hospital, they could have NEVER been found...they may have been there forever, and when the evil bastard died, they would've probably starved to death.
Its a scary story...and even more scarier that its real, and could be happening elsewhere.
