It's not her sort of thing at all; they're rock and she's a "whiny guitar chick" as dear old Robby might have phrased it. :D

so the singer doesn't know any of this yet?
No, so it's all unattractively underhand. Stig's not happy with what the others have planned, but if he doesn't go along tonight, he's less able to influence the outcome. He's pushing for more say in band matters generally, especially the material and how the gig money is spent, so he needs to be in the thick of it, really.

This NIN lawsuit is interesting. (http://www.nin.com/)
or maybe you would rather read about a youtube lawsuit (http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/suetube-sex-copyright-and-rock-and-roll.ars). It's sort of the same thing.
It's about free content on the Internet. The result of these lawsuits could be to stop even completely legal self-created content.

no. I have one or two who I get cross with about their writing, because I know they can do better. But Iask them, 1 to 1, if it is their best work. They'll always say if it is, and if it isn't, they do it again. i'd have a quiet word...

I thought so, I was livid today because he came out of school with just his zip up jumper on, no t shirt, it was freezing cold. I said where is your jumper, he said his teacher took it off him cause it had paint on it. I was like what?? She was going to give him it back once she had got the paint off.
So at this point feeling still pissed off from yesterdays comment I went to go into the school, she was coming out. I said excuse me where is Dylan's t shirt, she said about the paint and how she meant to give him it back, I said you realise it is cold out here, and how is it different to him coming home with paint on his clothes yesterday?
She was all oh I have to get my dog, I will give him his t shirt tomorrow and dashed off.
*sigh*
When I met her at a open parents night, she seemed totally frazzled. I got the impression she was quite a stressed person. I get that it is a hard job, but it does not instill confidence and happiness in me with my sons teacher.

As it is, the would-be couldn't make the audition last night and called off.
I suppose they're hedging their bets; if they give singer #1 the boot and then singer #2 auditions and is crap, they're left with no singer to be going on with.
Personally, I don't think Stig will stick with them much longer; they're just not interested in playing anything that isn't a) really well-known so the audience will know it immediately, or b) anything challenging. Stig's used to being in bands that write their own stuff or a least are willing to cover songs chosen for their quality rather than their ubiquitousness. He tried to get this lot to cover Elva Snow's "Shimmer", and the dismayed reaction was "....but no one will know that!". Of course, if they get a new singer with a more adventurous outlook......

My friends boyfriend went through a similar thing. He's a (very good) guitarist, and he was fed up in his band. They wern't challenging or serious enough for him, so he secretly joined 2 other bands, played with both for a month, and then settled on one finally, who he is now very happy with. It's a bit like having an affair though, cheating on your band. If any of them had found out, he'd have been in sooooooooooo much trouble!

Illegal immigrant rescues boy in desert
By TERRY TANG, Associated Press writer 1 minute ago
A 9-year-old boy looking for help after his mother crashed their van in the southern Arizona desert was rescued by a man entering the U.S. illegally, who stayed with him until help arrived the next day, an official said.
The 45-year-old woman, who eventually died while awaiting help, had been driving on a U.S. Forest Service road in a remote area just north of the Mexican border when she lost control of her van on a curve on Thanksgiving, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada said.
The van vaulted into a canyon and landed 300 feet from the road, he said. The woman, from Rimrock, north of Phoenix, survived the impact but was pinned inside, Estrada said.
Her son, unhurt but disoriented, crawled out to get help and was found about two hours later by Jesus Manuel Cordova, 26, of Magdalena de Kino in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. Unable to pull the mother out, he comforted the boy while they waited for help.
The woman died a short time later.
"He stayed with him, told him that everything was going to be all right," Estrada said.
As temperatures dropped, he gave him a jacket, built a bonfire and stayed with him until about 8 a.m. Friday, when hunters passed by and called authorities, Estrada said. The boy was flown to University Medical Center in Tucson as a precaution but appeared unhurt.
"We suspect that they communicated somehow, but we don't know if he knows Spanish or if the gentleman knew English," Estrada said of the boy.
"For a 9-year-old it has to be completely traumatic, being out there alone with his mother dead," Estrada said. "Fortunately for the kid, (Cordova) was there. That was his angel."
Cordova was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents, who were the first to respond to the call for help. He had been trying to walk into the U.S. when he came across the boy.
The boy and his mother were in the area camping, Estrada said. The woman's husband, the boy's father, had died only two months ago. The names of the woman and her son were not being released until relatives were notified.
Cordova likely saved the boy, Estrada said, and his actions should remind people not to quickly characterize illegal immigrants as criminals.
"They do get demonized for a lot of reasons, and they do a lot of good. Obviously this is one example of what an individual can do," he said.

I know! It'll do for when it's a bit older. Think it might be a chunky pattern, I'll have to double the wool up. Tomorrow, I'll do some bootees and mittens and maybe a bonnet too. She's due in January, so it'll be cold!

My puppy peed in my bed. I had to strip both covers, the sheets, and Clorox the matress. Did I mention it's thirty-something degrees here, which is very cold for Texas!

Beautiful indeed. A song has real power when the music can bring tears to your eyes without you even understanding the words. I wasn't a fan, in fact I have never really listened to classical music before, but Bocelli caught my attention and now I am going to seek out some more classical tracks :)
