View Full Version : The problem of this board (No seriously!)

Okay on one hand there's quite a bit of mindless babbling, on the other hand there's people complaining about the babbling just as extendedly.... To check wether Punchdrunk's theory about other message boards being in the same state was true I just dropped into www.depechemode.com and had a look. And what did I find? People from all over the world of all age groups talking nicely and in a civilised manner to each other, exchanging news, trading, sharing their stories of "When" and "How" and so on..... all very pleasant and not at all boring. I don't know if it's like that all the time, but it was just now. It seemed like just the sort of place I could cuddle up and feel comfortable right away.... BUT:

On the same page:

1. An exclusive holiday greeting video from the band itself plus all three band members individually EXCLUSIVELY for fans consulting the website

2. Exclusive video and photo footage from the current recording session

3. Up-to-date news about the state of recording, info on song titles etc.

4. Several official competitions with nice prices, first hand info of where the band is, what they're doing, what they intend to be doing next week, next month etc.

No wonder that site is nominated as best fan site of the year!! And what do we get???? Nuffink! I mean don't get me wrong, the very idea of Morrissey sending a video stream with Christmas wishes is absurd, but something.....ANYTHING.... once in a while would make all the difference! And it'd finally give us something to talk about if we can't for God's sake find something by ourselves....

How's David supposed to run a succesful fan site about an artist that isn't dead, but plays dead....?? And after seeing that site I can't find many excuses anymore - age certainly isn't, those guys are the same age and going as strong as ever and they HAVE caught up with the cyber age. "It just isn't Morrissey" is no excuse either, what easier way is there to get in touch with the fans than this site??? Why leave us starving with just the odd rumour or two to chew on?? Why leave us speculating about the label and recording situation until noone really knows what's going on anymore?? Keeping up the myth is certainly a comprehensible intention, but isn't he taking things a bit too far?

Well Morrissey: to put out a record every so-and-so many years or do a tour - which I'd certainly welcome - is all very well..... but here you have this excellent platform run by poor David T. who gets all the blame for your quietness, and why oh why can't you just get in touch with us every once in a while?? What's so difficult about that?? We know you have a computer and we can guess that you know how to use it.... And we're not that horrible really. The people playing bigmouth on this board (like me!) are the same people who stand front row at your show and look up to you like purring starry eyed kittens, fighting and breaking their bones to just hold your hand for two seconds. You could have us all nice and tame if only you showed some sign of being alive sometimes.

I don't have the slightest hope that this will help, but I really had to get it out once.....

You're right David T does a brilliant job with the few scraps he can find.
It would be nice if there was some sort of artist interaction or some definate info- is he recording
at Wool Hall in Bath or not??
It reminds me of a James song:
" say something, say something - ANYTHING, your silence is deafening..."

I have a theory that he IS NOT.

I think the erroneous rumor that got started in November...theoretically created by someone who thought they could flush out the truth by spreading a false rumor... has proliferated into people overhearing from 3rd hand sources that Morrissey may be in Bath.

This guy has made a big fuss about not recording until he has a label.

If someone had signed him, don't you think there would be a press release or leaking of information instead of us getting bite size nuggets of news that Moz was seen at some pub in Camden? No, the only thing we got was sometime last month Spin saying he MAY be close to a deal before degenerating into saying one label was lowballing him. That's not news. That's garbage.

I don't know to what end Morrissey is putting off finding a label, but he needs to finally decide if he's serious about it or not. Nothing else is going to change around here. If he thinks the world is finally going to bend into him because they are tired of waiting, well, he's got another thing coming. It's not exactly like his price tag is going to go up the further the days get from his last album and tour. And all of the other extraneous circumstances where he's waiting for the planets to come into alignment, where a golden light bathes onto fields of elysium and everything comes to us how we have wanted it to happen, we all know what an utterly wasted venture that is.

We all know what we're capable of as well as he. He's been doing this stuff for nearly two decades and I dont know how after all this time he can be so unrealistic about what he's going to get....out of everyone.

I've been to that site. It is pretty cool.
